Instructions:

Treasure Tic-Tac-Toe

Yarns: scraps of double knitting/light worsted yarn in assorted colors (from 2 yards to 50 yards) – beige, golden brown, green, yellow, grey, brown and pink/blue

Hooks & Notions:

  • Size 3.50 mm Hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Marker
  • 20 cm ribbon (2 mm or 5 mm)
  • 2 x medium beads
  • Needle and Thread

PROJECT NOTES:

If you are using the pages double-sided – This page is worked on the backside of the Pirate Boat.
This page can be customized for boys or girls.

The Tic Tac Toe Board:

With beige yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 26.

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into each ST until end, turn. (25 SC)

Row 2 – 26: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, turn.

Row 27: CH3 (counts as 1 DC), 1 DC into same ST, 1 HDC into next 2 STS, 1 SC into next 15 STS, 1 HDC into next 3 STS, 1 DC into next 2 STS, 4 DC into last ST – continue in the round going down the sides of the rows – work 1 HDC into the next 2 rows, work 1 SC into the next 10 rows, work 1 HDC into the next 6 rows, work 1 DC into the next 7 rows, work 4 DC into the bottom row – continue along the bottom part of the bottom row – work 1 DC into next 2 STS, work 1 HDC into next 3 STS, work 1 SC into next 15 STS, work 1 HDC into next 2 STS, work 4 DC into last ST – continue in the round going up the sides of the rows – work 1 DC into the next 3 rows, work 1 HDC into the next 6 rows, work 1 SC into next 5 rows, work 1 HDC into the next 5 rows, work 1 DC into the next 6 rows, work 3 DC into the next row, SL ST into the top of beginning 3 CH.

Note: please do not stress too much about row 27 if you do not follow the instructions exactly – this row is to try and give the board the look of a map 🙂 So if you free-form that is perfect!

Border Round:

CH1, work 1 SC into each ST all around, working 3 SC into the corners.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing board onto page.

Surface crochet 9 compartments onto the board.

Building The Page:

  • With yarn needle and using the tail sew board onto page as shown in photo.

Gold Coins: (Make 5)

With golden brown yarn and 3,50 mm hook – Make a magic ring/ or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form ring. Use the stitch marker to mark your first or last ST of each RND to help keep track of your rounds.

Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into ring.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC into each SC. (12 SC)
Rnd 3: Work 2 SC into first ST, work 1 SC into next.
*Work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next ST. **
Repeat from * to ** all around. (18 SC)
Rnd 4: Work 2 SC into first ST, work 1 SC into next 2 STS. *Work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 2 STS. **
Repeat from * to ** all around. (24 SC)
Rnd 5: SL ST into each ST all around. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower Rings: (Make 5)

Ring:

With yellow yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 12.

SL ST into first CH to form a ring; work 2 SC
into each CH all around, SL ST into first SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower:

With blue/pink yarn and 3,50 mm hook – Make a magic ring/ or CH 4; SL ST into 4th CH from hook to form ring.

CH3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into ring, SL ST into ring, *work 2 DC into ring, SL ST into ring. **
Repeat from * to ** two more times.
Fasten off and sew flower onto ring.

Dagger: (Make 5)

The Point:

With grey yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 8.
Note: leave a long tail at the start and at the end.

Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 HDC into next CH, work 1 DC into next CH, work 1 TR into next CH,
work 1 DC into next CH, work 1 HDC into next CH, SL ST into last CH. Fasten off.

The Hilt:

With brown yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 7

Work 1 DC into the 4th CH from the hook (the first 3 CH counts as 1 DC), SL ST into the next 3 CH – continue to work on the opposite side – work 1 SL ST opposite the 3 SL ST worked, CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into the bottom CH of the first 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in tails.

With yarn needle and using the tails attach the point to the hilt.
Weaving tails through the back stitches of the hilt and the point neaten and cut of ends.

The Treasure Pouch:

With green yarn and 3,50 mm hook – CH 42, SL ST into first CH to form a ring.

Rnd 1: CH1, work 1 SC into each CH, SL ST into first SC. (42 SC)
Rnd 2 – 8: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST, SL ST into first SC. (42 SC)
Rnd 9:
CH1, *work 1 SC into next 5 STS, SC2tog. ** Repeat from * to ** until end, SL ST into first SC. (36 SC)
Rnd 10:
CH1, work 1 SC into each ST, SL ST into first SC. (36 SC)
Rnd 11:
CH1, *work 1 SC into next 4 STS, SC2tog. ** Repeat from * to ** until end, SL ST into first SC. (30 SC)
Rnd 12:
CH1, work 1 SC into each ST, SL ST into first SC. (30 SC)
Rnd 13:
CH1, *work 1 SC into next 3 STS, SC2tog. ** Repeat from * to ** until end, SL ST into first SC. (24 SC)
Rnd 14 – 18:
CH1, work 1 SC into each ST, SL ST into first SC. (24 SC)
Rnd 19:
CH1, *work 3 SC into next ST, CH1, SKIP 1. ** Repeat from * to ** until end.
Fasten off and leave a long tail.

With yarn needle weave yarn through the 1 CH stitches to the bottom of the pouch, flatten pouch making sure the 1 CH stitches are on the side.  Sew bottom closed.
Fasten off and weave in end.

Attach a bead to the one side of the ribbon, tying a knot to prevent bead from slipping off, with yarn needle weave ribbon through the 1 CH spaces of Rnd 9. Pause halfway at the back of the pouch, and weave ribbon through a few stitches on the page itself. Continue weaving ribbon through 1 CH spaces, thread through remaining bead and knot off.
