Christmas Skittle Ball Game CAL Part Three

INSTRUCTIONS:
Making The Body & Head 
Theses instructions are used for all the Character Skittles except the Christmas Tree.
 

Ball Body: Approx size 8 cm in diameter
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

With yarn and 3.50 mm hook Make a magic circle
.
Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into magic circle. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). Move marker
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). Move marker
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next two STS.  Repeat from * around (24 SC). Move marker
Rnd 5: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). Move marker
Rnd 6: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). Move marker
Rnd 7: SC in each ST around (36 SC). Move marker
Rnd 8: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next five STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC). Move marker
Rnd 9: SC in each ST around (42 SC). Move marker
Rnd 10: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next six STS. Repeat from * around (48 SC). Move marker
Rnd 11-13: SC in each ST around (48 SC). Move marker
Rnd 14: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next six STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC). Move marker
Rnd 15: SC in each ST around (42 SC). Move marker
Rnd 16: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next five STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). Move marker
Rnd 17-18: SC in each ST around (36 SC). Move marker
Rnd 19: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next four STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). Move marker
Rnd 20: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next three STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). Move marker
Rnd 21: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (18 SC). Move marker
Stuff firmly – DO NOT OVER-STUFF ! 
Stuff just enough so that ball is firm and round without the stuffing showing through the stitches.
Rnd 22: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (12 SC). Move marker
Rnd 23: SC2tog across next two STS, *SC2tog across next two STS. Repeat from * around (6 SC).

LoveCrochet

Fasten off and sew opening close, weave in ends.

Ball Head: Approx size 4,5 cm in diameter
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

With yarn and 3.50 mm hook Make a magic circle

Rnd 1:  Work 6 SC into magic circle. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). Move marker
Rnd 3: SC in each ST around (12 SC). Move marker
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). Move marker
Rnd 5: SC in each ST around (18 SC). Move marker
Rnd 6: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next two STS.  Repeat from * around (24 SC). Move marker
Rnd 7: SC in each ST around (24 SC). Move marker
Rnd 8: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (18 SC). Move marker
Rnd 9: SC in each ST around (18 SC). Move marker
Rnd 10: *SC2tog across next two STS and SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (12 SC). Move marker
Stuff firmly – DO NOT OVER-STUFF !

Rnd 11: SC in each ST around (12 SC). Move marker
Rnd 12: SC2tog across next two STS, *SC2tog across next two STS. Repeat from * around (6 SC).

PART THREE: Santa & Snowman Skittles
 
SANTA SKITTLE BALL:
With red yarn complete the instructions for the Body only
With beige yarn complete the instructions for the Head only
SNOWMAN SKITTLE BALL:
With white yarn complete the instructions for the Body and Head
Optional Notions required:
* ‘Stick On’ Eyes/ Safety eyes ( 2 x pairs )
* Small Buttons – Santa 1 x white, 3 x green, Snowman 1 x orange
* Ribbon – Green colored ribbon for Snowman Scarf – approx 10 cm in length
* Craft Glue
SANTA SKITTLE BALL:
 
Hat:  Approx size 6,5 cm in length
With white yarn and 4.00 mm hook or 3,50 mm hook CH 18.
Rnd 1:  SL ST into first CH to form ring. CH2 (counts as HDC), 1 HDC into each CH (18 HDC), SL ST into 2nd CH of 2 CH
Cut yarn (leave a long tail for sewing hat to head) and join red yarn with a SL ST
Rnd 2: for this rnd and work into back loops only – CH1, 1 SC into same ST, 1 SC into each ST  (18 SC), SL ST into first SC.
Rnd 3-5: CH1,1 SC into each ST (18 SC), SL ST into first SC
Rnd 6: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * until end (12 SC), SL ST into first SC
Rnd 7: CH1, 1 SC into each ST (12 SC), SL ST into first SC
Rnd 8: CH1, SC2tog until end (6 SC), SL ST into first SC
Rnd 9: CH1, SC2tog until end (3 SC) – if working with the 3,50 mm hook this might be a bit tricky – Fasten off and sew top close to form a point.
Bobble:
With white yarn and 3.00 mm hook
Rnd 1:  CH2, work 6 SC into 2nd CH from hook
Rnd 2-3: 1 SC into each ST. Fasten off and sew onto top of hat. Weave in ends.
Beard:
 
Option 1:
With white yarn and 3.00 mm hook CH 24,
Row 1:  1 SC in 2nd from hook, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 2 STS, SC2tog, SC3tog, SC3tog, SC3tog, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 2 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC in last ST, turn
Row 2: SL ST in each ST until end. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Option 2:
With white yarn and 3.00 mm hook CH 24,
Work a loop ST into each ST, turn and repeat for 2nd row
How To Crochet The Loop Stitch:
Embroider with some black yarn eyes/glue on Stick On eyes/sew on Safety Eyes

 

Sew on white button for nose, green buttons for buttons and sew on the beard.

 

Stuff hat with very little fiberfill/toy stuffing just to give a bit of shape and sew onto head.

 

SNOWMAN SKITTLE BALL:
 

Hat:  Approx size 3,5 cm in length
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

With black yarn and 3.50 mm hook Make a magic circle

Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into magic circle. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). Move marker
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). Move marker
Rnd 4: For this rnd only work in back loops. Work 1 SC in each ST until end (18 SC) Move marker
Rnd 5-10: Work 1 SC in each ST until end (18 SC) Move marker

Rnd 11: For this rnd only work in front loops. *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next two STS.  Repeat from * around (24 SC). Move marker
Rnd 12: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). Move marker
Rnd 13: *Work 2 SC in next ST and 1 SC in each of the next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). SL ST in each ST, Fasten off and  leave a tail for sewing.

Scarf:

Option 1:
Row 1: With green yarn and 3.00 mm hook CH 41, Work 1 SC in 2nd CH from hook, Work 1 SC in each ST until end. Turn, CH1
Row 2: Work 1 SC in each ST until end. Fasten and leave a tail for sewing.

Option 2:
A green colored ribbon approx 10 cm in length

Embroider with some black yarn eyes/glue on Stick On eyes/sew on Safety Eyes

 

Sew orange button on for nose
Glue Ribbon around neck and front for scarf/Sew crocheted scarf around neck and front

 

Using the exposed loops of Rnd 11, sew hat onto head.
DO NOT STUFF HAT. (I think the big, floppiness gives character to the hat)
