Applique:
Star:
With 3,00 mm hook and yellow yarn
CH 5, join with a SL ST to first CH to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Work 3 CH, 2 DC, 3 CH, into ring *3 DC, 3 CH. Repeat from * 3 more times. (5 DC clusters and 5 3 CH’s). Join with a SL ST to the 3rd CH of starting 3CH.
Rnd 2: SL ST into the next  2DC and into the first 3 CH space.
3 CH, 2 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC into 3 CH space, 1 SC into 2nd DC of next DC cluster. *3 DC, 3CH, 3 DC into next 3CH space, 1 SC into 2nd of next DC cluster. Repeat from * 3 times more. Join with a SL ST into the 3rd CH of starting 3CH.
Rnd 3: SL ST into next 2 DC and into first 3CH space. Work 3 CH, 3 DC, 4 CH, 4 DC into 3 CH space, 1 SL ST on either side of SC of previous rnd. Work *4 DC, 4 CH, 4 DC into next 3CH space, 1  SL ST on either side of SC of previous rnd. Repeat

from * 3 times more. Join with a SL ST into the 3rd CH from starting 3CH. FO and leave a tail for sewing.

Note: I made a 2 CH turning chain at the beginning of each row and NOT a 3 CH. I found this gave my leg a much neater edge.
This stocking can be made optional in double knitting medium worsted weight yarn if preferred with a 5,00 mm or 6,00 mm hook
 
With blue yarn and 4.50 mm hook CH 44
Row 1: 1DC in 3rd CH from hook, 1DC in each ST until end (42 DC), turn
Row 2: CH1, work 1 SC into each DC until end, work 1 SC into top of 3CH, (42 SC) turn
Row 3: 2 CH (counts as 1st DC), 1DC in each ST until end (42 DC), turn
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until work measures approx 34 cm or there are 20 DC rows and 19 SC rows
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Size approx 30 cm in width and 34 cm in length worked with
dk light weight worsted yarn and 4,50 mm hook
Heel:
With right side facing, skip 32 STS and join white/cream yarn with a SC
Row 1: CH1 work 1 SC into next 10 STS, bring other side of leg around and 1 SC in first 10 STS (20 SC), turn
Row 2: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 14 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST   (18 SC), turn
Row 3: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 12 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST  (16 SC), turn
Row 4: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 10 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST (14 SC), turn
Row 5: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 8 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST (12 SC), turn
Row 6: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 6 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST  (10 SC), turn
Row 7: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 4 STS, SC2tog, 11 SC into last ST  (8 SC), turn
Row 8: CH1, SC2tog, 1 SC in next 2 STS, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST (6 SC), turn
Row 9: CH1, SC2tog, SC2tog, 1 SC into last ST  (4 SC), turn
Row 10: CH1, 1 SC in each ST (4 SC), turn
Row 11: CH1, 2 SC in next 2 STS, 1 SC into last ST  CH (6 SC), turn
Row 12: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 2 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST (8 SC), turn
Row 13: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 4 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST (10 SC), turn
Row 14: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 6 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST  CH (12 SC), turn
Row 15: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 8 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST (14 SC), turn
Row 16: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 10 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST (16 SC), turn
Row 17: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 12 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST (18 SC), turn
Row 18: CH1, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC in next 14 STS, 2 SC in next ST, 1 SC into last ST (20 SC). Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

 

Foot:
With right side facing, skip first 10 SC of heel and join blue yarn with a SC
Row 1: CH1 work 1 SC into next 10 STS, bring up leg part and work 1 SC into each ST around. SL ST into first SC worked.(42 SC)
Rnd 2: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, (42 SC) SL ST into first SC worked.
Rnd 3: CH1, work 1 SC into next 10 STS, SC2tog twice, work 1 SC into next 14 STS, SC2tog twice, work 1 SC into last 10 STS (38 SC), SL ST into first SC worked
Rnd 4: CH1, work 1 SC into first SC, SC2tog twice, work 1 SC into next 28 STS, SC2tog, work 1 SC into last ST (34 SC). SL ST into first SC worked
Rnd 5: CH2, work 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into each ST until end (34 DC), SL ST into top of 2 CH
Rnd 6: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end, (34 SC), SL ST into first SC worked
Repeat Rnd 5 & 6 4 more times. Fasten off and weave in ends.
