Little Penguin Doll & Blanket
A cute little amigurumi penguin made to match a book and blanket.

SIZE:
Approx 12 cm tall and 8 cm in width

MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Double knitting/light worsted yarn
Approx 25 grams of blue
Small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn in white, yellow and black

Size 3.50 mm Hook
Yarn Needle
Stitch Marker
Small amount of fiberfill/toy stuffing

GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

ABBREVIATIONS:
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
SC2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together
MM – move stitch marker

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Instructions:

BODY:
With Blue Yarn and 3,50 mm  Hook
Make a magic circle
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into circle, pull end tail to close ring. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 5: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 6-8: Work 1 SC into each all around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 9: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 10: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next five STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC). MM
Rnd 11-25: Work 1 SC into each all around (42 SC). MM
Rnd 26: WORKING IN BACKLOOPS ONLY (THIS ROUND ONLY) 
*SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 5 STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 27: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 4 STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 28: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 3 STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 29: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 2 STS. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
STUFF PENGUIN WITH FIBERFILL/TOY STUFFING
Rnd 30: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 1 STS. Repeat from * around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 31: *SC2tog.  Repeat from * around (6 SC).
Fasten off and sew opening closes, Weave in ends.

EYES: make 2
With White Yarn and 3,50 mm  Hook
Make a magic circle
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into circle, pull end tail to close ring. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 3: Work 1 SC into next ST, work 1 HDC and 1 DC into next ST, work 1 DC and 1 HDC into next ST, work 1 SC into next ST. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing eye onto body.
With some black yarn and yarn needle – knot yarn at the back of the eye, pull yarn through center of eye and make approx 3 – 4 long stitches to make the pupil – USE PHOTO AS GUIDE!

STOMACH PATCH:
With White Yarn and 3,50 mm  Hook

This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.

Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into circle, pull end tail to close ring. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC).
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing patch onto body.FEET: make 2
With Yellow Yarn and 3,50 mm  Hook
CH 6

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into next 4 STS, TURN
Row 2: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (5 SC), TURN
Row 3: SC2tog, work 1 SC into next ST, SC 2 tog (3 SC), TURN
Row 4: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (3 SC), TURN
Row 5: SC3tog. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing feet onto body.

Sew eyes and stomach into position. With some yellow yarn thread some long stitches to form a beak in between the eyes. Weave the tail of the feet underneath through the stitches first to come out at the starting foundation row then sew feet onto body using the loops of round 26 to help with the positioning.
