Building your page:

Using the tails of each applique, whipstitch each piece into place!

Attach the pond to the bottom right hand side of the left side page

Attach the plant just above the pond – use photo as guide
Note: only stitch leaves half way – so that they can fold over

Attach the berries to the plant
Note: to make the berry pop (bubble) as you stitch the berry to the page
work 3 berry stitches into 1 page stitch – all around.

This is what your Left Hand Side page should look like so far!

Attach the volcano to the Right Hand Side page –
Note: when stitching the bottom leave a gap the same size as the volcano top!
The two openings should be opposite each other

PLEASE NOTE: PAGE IS NOT COMPLETE 🙂 – WILL BE ADDED TO LATER ON!

Building your Dinosaur – Brontosaurus

Place the two tail pieces together and whipstich.

Note: with the tails there is no wrong or right side – because the two pieces are made

exactly the same! When stitching a wrong ‘side’ and a right ‘side’ will be facing each other

Stuff tail lightly – DO NOT SEW BOTTOM OPENING CLOSED – this part will be used
to attach tail to body. Put to one side

Place the two head pieces together and starting about 5 stitches up see photo –
whipstitch together

Stuff head and neck lightly – DO NOT SEW LAST 5 STITCHES CLOSED. Put to one side

Whip stitch the two body pieces together as shown in the photos – you will be working with

the right sides facing towards you.

NOTE: DO NOT CUT YOUR BODY TAIL YARN THIS WILL BE USED TO ATTACH
TAIL AND HEAD 🙂

Attach your tail to the body – first along one side then along the other

Your body tail should be at the start again
Weave your body tail through underneath the dinosaur tail and continue working the body together.

When about 10 cm from end – stuff body lightly with some fiberfill/toy stuffing

TIP: Check below to see how I stuffed my dinosaur’s body – this is of course optional 🙂

I used a piece of cushion inner to put my stuffing in and then I placed this into my dinosaur 🙂
TIP: you can also add a bell or beans

Stitch the body together until you reach the last 5 stitches – attach your dinosaur head.

First one side – sew the 5th stitch, then the remaining 4 stitches on the other side.

Fasten off by closing the gap behind the head. Weave in ends 🙂

The Legs:

I used some scrap-booking ribbon – I cut 4 x  10 cm strips then melted (burnt) the edges together

with a flame – then with some thread I stitched each ‘leg’ into place on the bottom of the

dinosaur’s body – then I added a button to the top of each leg

(this was for decorative as well as to hide the stitches)

I then glued some sticky eyes to the head – this was at the request of my daughter 🙂
This little guy measures approx – 26 cm in length from head to tail and from top of head to feet 14 cm!

Hi Maria 🙂 I am so happy you are enjoying making your book!
A cushion inner – is the inside part of a pillow or throw pillow – the fabric that cover the stuffing 🙂 I recycle my old pillows by reusing the stuffing if still good and the fabric cover.

  2. Oops, one more thing. What is cushion inner? Thank you.

  3. I really, really like when you break down a row's directions with the return key, example: rows 1 & 2 of the tail and 4 & 5 of the head and neck. I have never thought about it much, but it makes it sooooo much easier for me to keep track of my place. I signed up for the CAL and then went back to work, but I'm still plugging away and so happy with my book so far. Thank you for sharing this wonderful pattern with us.

    Hi Donna 🙂
I have fixed it – that is me doing part two and thinking part three! I apologize sometimes things like this slip no matter how many times you check everything right! Thank you for letting me know 🙂

  5. I'm curious as to why, under the link for the schedule, in bold print it says part 3 at the beginning of part 2? I went back over part 1 to see if it was broken down into two parts but I'm only finding it broken down into one part. Is this a typographical error?
