Easter Pocket Pals

 An Easter bunny and chick with pockets ready to be filled with Easter goodies!

You should at least know how to: single crochet, double crochet, half crochet, slip stitch, use back/front loops only, decrease and more.

MATERIALS:
· 50gr of double knitting/light worsted yarn, in yellow and pink
· Small amounts in double knitting/light worsted yarn, in orange, white and black
· Fiberfill/Toy Stuffing
· Size 4,00mm Hook
· Size 3,00mm Hook
· Yarn Needle
· Stitch Marker
· Optional – button nose for bunny

Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used. Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and size of hook used.

SIZE:
15cm in length and 10cm in width at the widest part worked in double knitting/light worsted yarn
I use US Crochet stitch terminology
 
INSTRUCTIONS:
 
This part is made by working in continuous rounds, so you may want to use a stitch marker to keep record of your current rnd.
Body:
With 4,00mm Hook and yellow or pink color yarn:
CH 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 SC in second CH from hook. Place a stitch marker in the last SC to designate the end of the rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 3: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 4: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next two STS.  Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 5: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 6: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 7: For this rnd only work in back loops – Work 1 SC in each ST around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 8: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next five STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC). MM
Rnd 9: Work 1 SC in each ST around (42 SC). MM
Rnd 10: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next six STS. Repeat from * around (48 SC). MM
Rnd 11: Work 1 SC into next 15 STS, work 1 SC into back loops for the next 18 STS, work 1 SC into next 15 STS. (48 SC)
Rnd 12-16: Work 1 SC in each ST around (48 SC). MM
Rnd 17: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next six STS. Repeat from * around (42 SC). MM
Rnd 18: Work 1 SC in each ST around (42 SC). MM
Rnd 19: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next five STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 20: Work 1 SC in each ST around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 21: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next four STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 22: Work 1 SC in each ST around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 23: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next three STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Stuff body firmly with fiberfill/toy stuffing
Rnd 24: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 25: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (12 SC). MM
Head:
Rnd 26: Work 1 SC in each ST around (12 SC). MM
Rnd 27: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 28: Work 1 SC in each ST around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 29: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next two STS.  Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 30: Work 1 SC in each ST around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 31: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next three STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM

 

Rnd 32: Work 1 SC in each ST around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 33: *Work 2 SC in first ST and 1 SC in each of the next four STS. Repeat from * around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 34: Work 1 SC in each ST around (36 SC). MM
Rnd 35: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next four STS. Repeat from * around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 36: Work 1 SC in each ST around (30 SC). MM
Rnd 37: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next three STS. Repeat from * around (24 SC). MM
Rnd 38: Work 1 SC in each ST around (24 SC). MM
Stuff head firmly with fiberfill/toy stuffing
Rnd 39: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next two STS. Repeat from * around (18 SC). MM
Rnd 40: *SC2tog and work 1 SC in next ST. Repeat from * around (12 SC). MM
Do final stuffing and continue when done
Rnd 41: *SC2tog. Repeat from * around (6 SC). FO, sew opening close and weave in ends.
Pocket:
Join new color yarn with a SC to the first loop
created on rnd 11 (18STS worked in back loops)
Row 1: Work 1 SC into each loop (18 SC), turn
Row 2: CH3 (counts as DC), work 1 DC into first SC, work 1 DC into next SC. *Work 2 DC into next ST SC, work 1 DC into next SC. Repeat from * until end of row (27 DC). turn
Row 3: CH 3 (counts as DC), work 1 DC into each DC from previous row (27 DC), turn
Row 4: CH 1, work 1 SC into next 10 DC, work 1 DC into next 7 DC, work 1 SC into next 10 DC, turn
Row 5: CH 1, work 1 SC into each ST (27 SC)
Row 6: CH 1, work 1 SC into next 10 SC, work 1 DC into next 7 SC, work 1 SC into next 10 SC, turn
Row 7: CH 1 work 1 SC into each ST (27 SC), turn
Sl ST into each ST until end of row. Leave a long tail for sewing approx. 15-20cm.
Starting with side where the sewing tail is, sew pocket side into place, weave tail through the bottom stitches of pocket and sew other pocket side into place. Weave in ends.
Bunny Ear: (Make Two)
With 4,00mm Hook and pink yarn CH 13

 

Work 1 SC into 2nd CH form hook, work 1 SC into next 2 CH, work 1 HDC into next 3 CH, work 1 DC into next 3 CH, work 1 TR into next 2 CH, work 6 TR into last CH – continue working along the other side – work 1 TR into next 2 CH, work 1 DC into next 3 CH, work 1 HDC into next 3 CH, work 1 SC into next 3 CH. FO and leave a tail for sewing approx 10cm.
 
Weave tail up through ear in the back stitches and back down again, pull lightly to shape, sew ears onto bunny head.
Duck Beak: (Make Two)
With 4,00mm Hook and orange yarn CH 6
Work 1 SC and 1 HDC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 HDC and 1 DC into next CH, work 1 TR into next CH, work 1 DC and 1 HDC into next CH, work 1 HDC and 1 Sc into last CH
Sew the two pieces together and sew onto the Chick’s head. Weave in ends.
Eyes: (Make Four)
With 4,00mm Hook and white yarn CH2
Rnd 1: Work 6 SC in second CH from hook.
Rnd 2: Work 2 SC in each ST around (12 SC).
Join pink or yellow yarn on last ST and SL ST all around.
FO and leave a tail for sewing.
With 3,00mm Hook and black yarn CH2
Rnd 1: Work 6 SC in second CH from hook.
SL ST all around. FO and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew black parts onto the white, then sew eyes onto the heads.
Sew a pretty button for the bunny’s nose!
Or embroider one.
Bunny Tail:
For the tail I made a pompom. My outer circle measured 8cm and my inner hole measured 3cm.
I used pink and white yarn.
Chick Hair:
With 3,00mm Hook and orange yarn join yarn with a SL ST anywhere on top of head. Work randomly as follows:
*CH10/8/ or 6, SL ST through any stitch on head. Repeat from * randomly until enough chain loops are created for hair, approx. 10 to 15 loops.
I added a few yellow loops just for fun.
Chick Feathers:
With 4,00mm Hook and yellow yarn CH1
Row 1: Work 2 SC in 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC in next 8 STS, work 2 SC in last ST, turn
Row 2: CH 1, work 1 SC in each ST till end of row, (12 SC). turn
Row 3: CH 1, work 2 SC in same ST, work 1 SC in 10 STS, work 2 SC in last ST, turn
Row 4: For this row only work in front loops –  CH 1, work SC in each ST till end of row, (14 SC). turn
Row 5: CH 1, work 2 SC in same ST, work 1 SC in 12 STS, work 2 SC in last ST, turn
Row 6: For this row only work in front loops –  CH 1, work SC in each ST till end of row, (16 SC). turn
Row 7: CH 1, work 2 SC in same ST, work 1 SC in 14 STS, work 2 SC in last ST, turn
Row 8: For this row only work in front loops –  CH 1, work SC in each ST till end of row, (18 SC). turn
Row 9: CH 1, work 2 SC in same ST, work 1 SC in 16 STS, work 2 SC in last ST, turn
Row 10: For this row only work in front loops –  work 1 SC in each ST till end (20 SC) turn
Row 11: *SL ST in next ST, work 2 DC and 1 TR in next ST, work 3 TR in next ST, work 1 TR and 2 DC in next ST, SL ST in next. Repeat from * 3 more times. FO and leave a tail for sewing.
 
Hold work facing right side towards you:
Join orange yarn into the first loop of row 10 (20 loops) and work as follows:
*SL ST into first/next loop, work 2 DC and 1 TR into next loop, work 3 TR into next loop, work 1 TR and 2 DC into next loop, SL ST into next loop. Repeat from * until end. FO and weave in ends.
 
Join yellow yarn into the first loop of row 8 (18 loops) and work as follows:
*Work a SL ST and 1 DC into first/next loop, work 1 DC, 1 TR, 1 DC into next loop, work 1 DC and a SL ST into next loop. Repeat from * until end. FO and weave in ends.
 
Join orange yarn into the first loop of row 6 (16 loops) and work as follows:
*SL ST into first/next loop, work 1 DC, 2 TR into next loop, 1 TR, 2 DC into next loop, SL ST into next loop. Repeat from * until end. FO and weave in ends.
 
Join yellow yarn into the first loop of row 4 (14 loops) and work as follows:
*Work a SL ST and 1 DC into first/next loop, work 1 DC and a SL ST into next loop. Repeat from * until end. FO and weave in ends.
Sew feathers onto the back of the Chick body
