Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.

LoveCrochet

Yarn: light worsted yarn
Color – 4 colors – color change indicted in pattern
Pink, dark pink, cream and yellow
approx 25 grams of dark pink and small amounts in the other colors

Hook: 4.00 mm

Size: This beanie is worked from the Lightweight Basic Beanie Pattern and all different sizes are given with the pattern instructions

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet

NOTES: Full credit and thanks goes to Rhondda from Oombawka Design for this awesome Beanie pattern, you will have to get the instructions for the first part of the beanie from the links given.

INSTRUCTIONS:
I made this beanie following the instructions given for the Lightweight Basic Beanie Pattern (Preemie) stopping before the last final two rounds.

Preemie
Sized to fit 12″ head circumference and 4.5″ height.

With dark pink yarn:
Work as given instructions and stop at round 12, BEFORE ending round work 1 extra HDC into same ST as last ST (36 HDC)

Lacy starry-eyed stitch pattern:
RND 13: CH 3, SKIP 2 STS, *work 1 DC into next ST, work (1 CH, 1 DC) 3 times into same ST, SKIP 2 STS. Repeat from * until end of round, work a SL ST into the top of the 3 CH
RND 14: CH 3, *work 1 DC into the middle of the SHELL, work (1 CH, 1 DC) 3 times into same CH space. Repeat from * until last ST, SL ST into top of the 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends

OTHER SIZES:
Newborn
Sized to fit 13.5″ head circumference and 5″ height.Work as given instructions and stop at round 14 (40 HDC)
continue with lacy starry-eyed stitch pattern for last two rows

0-3 months
Sized to fit 16″ head circumference and 6″ height.

Work as given instructions and stop at round 18, BEFORE ENDING ROUND SC2tog over last 2 STS (48 HDC)
continue with lacy starry-eyed stitch pattern for last two rows
3-6 Months
Sized to fit 17″ head circumference and 6.25″ height.
Work as given instructions and stop at round 18, BEFORE ENDING ROUND SC2tog over last 2 STS (52 HDC)

6 – 12 months
Sized to fit 18″ head circumference and 6.75″ height.

Work as given instructions and stop at round 19 (56 HDC)

12 months to 24 months
Sized to fit 19″ head circumference and 7″ height.
Work as given instructions and stop at round 21, (60 HDC)

3 to 5 years
Sized to fit 20″ head circumference and 7.5″ height.
Work as given instructions and stop at round 22, BEFORE ENDING ROUND  work 1 extra HDC into last ST (64 HDC)

6 to 10 years
Sized to fit 21″ head circumference and 8″ height.
Work as given instructions and stop at round 24, BEFORE ENDING ROUND  work 1 extra HDC into last ST (68 HDC)

Adult Small & Medium
Sized to fit 22″ head circumference and 8.25″ height.
Work as given instructions and stop at round 24 (26 for medium), BEFORE ENDING ROUND  work 2 extra HDC into last ST (72 HDC)
continue with lacy starry-eyed stitch pattern for last two rows
Adult Large
Sized to fit 23″ head circumference and 9″ height.
Work as given instructions and stop at round 27, BEFORE ENDING ROUND  work 2 extra HDC into last ST (76 HDC)
continue with lacy starry-eyed stitch pattern for last two rows

Flower
Approx 5 cm x 5 cm in diameter

With yellow yarn, make a magic ring
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 11 DC into ring, SL ST into top of 3 CH (12 DC). Fasten off and weave in ends
RND 2: Join cream yarn into any.
*SL ST into next 2 STS, CH 3, work 2 DC into same ST. Repeat from * until end of round (6 x petals). SL ST into first ST, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Attach flower to beanie
