Lacy Stitch Baby Blanket – Crafting A Rainbow Of Hope

A beautiful baby blanket in a quick and easy lacy stitch!

Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.

Yarn: light worsted yarn
Color – 4 colors – Pink, dark pink, cream and yellow
50 gram balls

Hook: 4.00 mm

Size: 54 cm x 54 cm (Preemie Blanket) – including border

Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet

I made this blanket using the lacy starry-eyed stitch.
Create a foundation chain that is  multiplied by four plus four

Preemie Blanket:
CH 80
ROW 1: Work 1 DC into the 8th CH from hook (to create corner loop), work (1 CH, 1 DC) 3 times into same CH.
*SKIP 3 CH, work  1 DC into next CH, work (1 CH, 1 DC) 3 times into the same CH (1 SHELL). Repeat from * until last 4 CH, SKIP 3 CH, work 1 DC into last CH, TURN
ROW 2: CH 3, *work 1 DC into the middle of the SHELL, work (1 CH, 1 DC) 3 times into same CH space. Repeat from * until last ST, work 1 DC into middle of corner loop space, TURN
Repeat ROW 2 for required length.
I worked two rows for each color
LAST ROW: CH 1, work 1 SC into first ST. *CH 3, work 1 SC into middle of the SHELL. Repeat from * until end of row – working 1 SC into last ST.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

RND 1:  Work 4 SC into each 3 chain space on the top and bottom rows,  and 2 SC into each row space when working down the sides left and right. NOTE: work 2 SC, 2 CH, 2 SC into each CORNER.
RND 2: *CH 3, work 3 DC into same ST, SKIP 3 SC, SL ST into next. Repeat from * all around blanket. When reaching corner, SL ST into corner SPACE, CH 3, work 3 DC into same space, SL ST into next SC and continue with pattern

  2. Author

Hi 🙂 Yes there is a last row! I apologize for that error on my part. I have added it to the pattern. Thank you for letting me know.

  3. can i ask a question please, once i have repeated row 2 to the required length, should i finish off with a row of something like sc into middle space of the shell with some chains otherwise there is nothing to do the 4 sc of the 1st row of the border into????
