Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.

MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Approx 20/30 grams of light weight worsted yarn- I used Elle Pullskein – Watermelon for the beanie
Very little amounts of yarn for the Flower – I used Elle Pullskein – Fig; Olive Green and Yellow

Hooks & Notions:
Hook 4.25 mm
Yarn needle

Notes:
I found that this pattern works up extremely quickly – I made the preemie size in just under a half an hour – including making the flower!
I think this pattern is just gorgeous and will be fun to make is an assortment of colors.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Free Basic Beanie Crochet Pattern in All Sizes

The Flower:

With yellow yarn

Make a magic ring

RND 1; CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 11 DC into ring (12 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH;
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join Fig (purple) yarn into any DC front-loop – for this round work into the front-loops only!

RND 2: CH 3; work 1 DC into same ST; work 1 DC into next ST; CH 3; SL ST into same ST;
*SL ST into next ST; CH 1; work 1 DC into same ST;
work 1 DC into next ST; CH 3; SL ST into same ST.
Repeat from * 4 more times (6 petals made). SL ST into the bottom of the first petal.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Turn flower around and join green yarn into any back-loop exposed – turn flower around again – so that the ‘right’ side is facing towards you.

*CH 7;
work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 HDC into next 2 CH; work 1 DC into next 3 CH**.
SL ST into next 3/4 back-loops;
repeat instructions from * to **; SL ST into remaining back-loops.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew flower onto the beanie!
