Giant Shell Stitch Blanket

 I love to learn and experiment with stitches. This stitch seemed to be a challenge but once I started and reached the 8th row I knew it by heart! I loved how quickly the blanket worked up with a size 6 crochet hook. For a quick and beautiful gift this design is perfect and the color combinations are endless!

Size: Approx 70cm x 80cm

Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.

SIZE:
70cm in length and 80cm in width

MATERIALS:
Yarns:
50gr  of double knitting/light worsted yarn, in pink, dark pink (fuchsia), yellow , beige and white.

Hooks & Notions:
Size 6.00mm Hook
Wool Sewing Needle
Scissors

GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

INSTRUCTIONS

Pattern:
With 6,00 mm hook and Pink yarn
CH 121
Row 1: Work 1SC into 2nd Ch from hook, *skip 3CH, work 7TR into next CH, skip 3CH, work 1SC into next CH. Repeat from * until end. Turn
Row 2: CH4 (counts as TR), work 3TR into SC of previous row, *skip 3STS, work 1SC into next ST, skip 3STS, work 7TR into SC from previous row. Repeat from * until end, working only 4TR into last SC. Turn
Row 3: CH1, 1SC into 1st TR of previous row, skip 3STS, work 7TR into SC from previous row, *skip 3STS, work 1SC into next ST, skip 3STS, work 7TR into SC from previous row. Repeat from * until end.
Row 2 and 3 form the pattern.
Change color after every 4th row.
Blanket Color Sequence:
Yellow
Fuchsia
White
Pink
Beige
Repeat Once!
After completing last row of pattern, TURN and continue as follows:
CH1, work 1SC into first ST, *CH3, SKIP 3STS, work 1SC, CH3, SKIP 3STS, work 1SC.
Repeat from * until end. FO and weave in ends.
Border:
Join yarn at beginning of top row –
Work 1SC into each ST, work 3SC into each 3CH, continue until end, continue down the side of blanket, working 3SC into each TR (row 2 pattern) and 1SC into each CH (row 3 pattern).
Work 1SC into each ST of bottom row, continue up the other side of blanket, working 3SC into each TR (row 2 pattern) and 1SC into each CH (row 3 pattern).
Working the corners: 2SC, 2Ch, 2SC into each corner
2nd Border Row: Work 1HDC into each ST all around. FO and weave in ends.
Working the corners: 2HDC 2Ch, 2HDC into each corner
