PART ONE:
A Big Wheel, a few Swirly’s and a Circle or six
SKILL LEVEL:
Easy to Intermediate
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
SIZE:
Small Circle – 6 cm x 6 cm
Swirly Square – 8 cm x 8 cm
Big Wheel – 26 cm x 26 cm
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn in various colors or
various colors in any yarn available
IMPORTANT NOTE – USE THE SAME TYPE OF YARN THROUGH OUT THE PROJECT!
Don’t stress – the size will just differ if different types are used 🙂
Hooks & Notions:
Size 4,00 mm
Yarn Needle
GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect as long as all the blocks are approx. the same size
I use US Crochet stitch terminology
The Small Circle: (Make 6)
Note:
I made two circles changing color every round and four circle changing color only on the last round
Make a magic ring
Rnd 1: CH1, work 6 SC into ring, join with a SL ST into first SC made (6 SC) – (change color)
Rnd 2: CH1, work 2 SC into each ST around, join with a SL ST into first SC made (12 SC) – (change color)
Rnd 3: CH1, work 1 SC into same ST, *work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next ST. Repeat from * 4 more times, work 2 SC into next ST, join with a SL ST into first SC made (18 SC) – (change color)
Rnd 4: CH1, work 2 SC into same ST, *work 1 SC into next 2 STS, work 2 SC into next ST. Repeat from * 4 more times, work 1 SC into next 2 STS, join with a SL ST into first SC made (24 SC) – (change color)
Rnd 5: CH1, work 1 SC into same ST, work 1 SC into next 2 STS, work 1 HDC into next ST, work 1 DC, 1 TR, 1 DC into next ST, work 1 HDC into next ST. *Work 1 SC into next 3 STS, work 1 HDC into next ST, work 1 DC, 1 TR, 1 DC into next ST, work 1 HDC into next ST. Repeat from * twice more, join with a SL ST into first SC made. FO and weave in ends.
The Swirly Square: (Make 2)
Note:
Might need a STITCH MARKER to help with the rounds because this square is made in continuous rounds. Insert STITCH MARKER into first ST worked of every round – to help keep track of the start of each round.
Make a magic ring
Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into ring
Rnd 2: work in backloops only – work 2 HDC into each ST (12 HDC)
Rnd 3: work in backloops only – *work 1 DC into next ST, work 2 DC into next ST. Repeat from * until last ST worked of this round
Rnd 4: work in backlopps only – *work 1 DC into next 2 STS, work 2 DC into next ST. Repeat from * until last ST worked of this round.
Rnd 5: work under both loops – *work 1 SC into next 3 STS, work 1 HDC into next ST, work 1 DC, 1 TR, 1 DC into next ST, work 1 HDC into next ST. Repeat from * 3 more times.
Change Color
Rnd 6: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST – but work 3 SC into each corner TR from previous round. FO and weave in ends.
The Swirl is worked from the center of the square outwards.
Join new color yarn with a SC into the center exposed loop, work 1 SC into same loop.
Work 2 SC into each loop until 2nd last loop, work a SL ST into last loop. FO and weave in ends.
The Big Wheel: (Make 1)
Note:
SPECIAL STITCH – V-stitch – V-ST: work 1 DC, CH1, 1 DC into same ST
Make a magic ring
Rnd 1: CH 3(counts as 1 DC), work 15 DC into ring, join with SL ST into top of 3CH (16 DC) – change color
Rnd 2: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH). *Work 1 DC into next ST, CH 2, repeat from * 15 times. join with a SL ST into the 3rd of beginning CH (16 STS, 16 CH spaces) – change color
Rnd 3: join new color in a 2 CH space, CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 2 DC into same space. * Work 3 DC into next 2 CH space, repeat from * 15 time, join with a SL ST into top of 3 CH (48 STS) – change color
Rnd 4: join new yarn between a pair of DC groups, CH 4 (counts as 1 DC, 1 CH), work 1 DC into same space, CH 1. *Work a V-ST between next pair of DC groups, CH 1, repeat from * 15 times, join with a SL ST into 3rd of beginning CH (32 STS, 32 CH spaces) – change color
Rnd 5: join new yarn in a 1 CH space of a V-ST, CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2 DC into same space. *Work 2 DC into next 1 CH space, work 3 DC into next 1 CH space, repeat from * 15 times, work 2 DC into next 1 CH space, join with a SL ST into to f 3 CH (80 STS) – change color
Rnd 6: join new yarn between a group of 3 DC and a 2 DC group, CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH. *Work 1 DC between next pair of DC group, CH 2, repeat from* 31 times, join with a SL ST into 3rd CH of beginning CH (32 STS, 32 CH spaces) – change color
Rnd 7: join new yarn into a 2 CH space, CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 3 DC into same space. *Work 4 DC into next 2 CH space, repeat from * 31 times, join with a SL ST into top of 3 CH (128 STS) – change color
Rnd 8: join new yarn between a pair of DC groups, CH 1 and work 1 SC into same space. *CH 3, work 1 SC between next pair of DC groups, repeat from * 31 times, CH 3, join with a SL ST into first SC made (32 STS, 32 CH spaces) – change color

Hi Elizabeth 🙂 Each part's date is at the top of this post, today part two will be posted! Thank you so much!
This looks like something that I have to start with all my scraps! Where can I find the rest of the parts? This is beautiful!
Awesome! Thank you for your visit 🙂
I've been looking at the circle n square blocks. I think that will be on my list for this year. Can't wait to see how these all go together!
