Christmas Wreath Tree Ornament

This pattern was part of 2015 October 31 Days of Handmade Christmas Ornaments!

Christmas Crocheted Wreath Tree Ornament

SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
SIZE:
Approx 8,5 cm x 8,5 cm
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn in red,  green and white
Hooks & Notions:
Size  3.50 mm
Yarn Needle
GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect as long as all the blocks are approx. the same size
I use US Crochet stitch terminology
 
INSTRUCTIONS:
With red or green yarn CH 24
join with a SL ST into first CH to form a ring
Rnd 1: *Work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 3 STS. Repeat from * until end (30 SC)
Rnd 2: *Work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 4 STS. Repeat from * until end (36 STS)
Rnd 3 – 4: Work 1 SC into each ST until end (36 SC)
Rnd 5: working into backloops only – work 1 SC into each ST until end (36 SC)
Rnd 6: Work 1 SC into each ST until end (36 SC)
Rnd 7: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 4 STS. Repeat from until end (30 STS)
Rnd 8: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 3 STS. Repeat from until end (24 STS)
Fasten off and leave a tail of approx. 30 cm. (enough to close up wreath and to make a hanging chain)

 

 

 

Press flat as shown in photo and sew inside of wreath closed.

 

Thread tail through wreath and pull out at the top –

insert hook into one of the exposed loops and chain approx 20 stitches,
SL ST into same loop, fasten off and weave in end.

 

With white yarn, insert hook into next exposed loop and work 1 SC, 1 DC, 1 SC into loop,
SL ST into next loop.
*Work 1 SC, 1 DC, 1 SC into next loop, work 1 SL ST into next loop. Repeat from * all around
until last loop, fasten off and weave in ends.

 

With red or green yarn and yarn needle – work French Knots randomly over the front of the wreath.

 

 

Optional – attach a small bow to front.

I was gifted with little wreaths that are similar to yours in Christmases past… but they pale in comparison to yours.
