Yarn: medium worsted yarn
Color – 4 colors – color change indicted in pattern

Hook: 4.00 mm

Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch

INSTRUCTIONS:

FOUNDATION CHAIN:
Ch 4 and join with a SL ST to form a ring
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2 DC into ring, CH 2. [Work 3 DC, CH 2] 3 times. Join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

RND 2: Join new color into any 2 CH space. CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work [2DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into same space. *Work [3 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into next 2 CH space. Repeat 2 times more. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH

RND 3: SL ST into next 2 DC, SL ST into 3 CH space.
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work [2DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into same space.
*CH 1, SKIP 2 DC, work 1 DC into next 2 DC, CH 1, SKIP 2 DC, work [3 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into corner 3 CH space. Repeat from * 2 more times.
CH 1, SKIP 2 DC, work 1 DC into next 2 DC, CH 1, SKIP 2 DC, SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
Fasten off and weave in ends.

RND 4: Join new color into any 3 CH space
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work [2DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into same space.
*CH 1, SKIP 2 DC, work 1 DC into next DC, work 1 DC into next 1 CH space, work 1 DC into next 2 DC, work 1 DC into next 1 CH space, work 1 DC into next DC, SKIP 2 DC, work [3 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into corner 3 CH space. Repeat from * 2 more times.

Work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space all round, working [3 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC] into each corner 3 CH space , SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends

RND 9: Join new color into any 3 CH corner space.
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2DC into same space.
Work 1 DC into each DC all around – working [3 DC] into each corner space. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
