Yarn: medium worsted yarn
Color – 4 colors – color change indicted in pattern

Hook: 4.00 mm

Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
FPDC – front post double crochet
[yarn around hook; insert hook from front to back around the post of the designated stitch; yarn around hook; pull up loop; yarn around hook; pull through two loops; yarn over hook; pull through last two loop]

INSTRUCTIONS:

Foundation Chain:
CH 31
Row 1: Work 1 DC into 4th CH from hook, work 1 DC into each CH until end (28 DC), TURN

Row 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), *[FPDC around next DC, work 1 DC into next ST]. Repeat from * until end – changing to new color when working last DC into 3rd of 3 CH, TURN
Row 2 forms the pattern – repeat row 2 until each color (3 colors) has been worked 7 times
Fasten off and weave in ends

Border: with the 4th color – Join to first CH along the foundation edge; CH 1, work 1 SC into the CH, work 1 SC into each ST until end;
work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 SC into the corner;
work 27 STS evenly along row-end edge;
work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 SC into the corner;
work 1 SC into each ST along the top row;
work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 SC into the corner;
work 27 STS evenly along row-end edge;
work 1 SC and 1 HDC into the same ST as first SC worked.
Round 2: CH 1, work 1 SC into each SC all around and work 3 SC into each corner HDC.
Fasten off and weave in ends
