-Scraps of double knitting/light worsted yarn in GREEN, DARK GREEN, BLUE, PINK AND CREAM OR WHITE
– Approx 25 grams of double knitting/light worsted yarn in PURPLE
Hooks & Notions:
-Size
3.50 mm Hook
-Yarn
Needle
-Thread and Needle
– Medium glue/stick/button or embroider eyes
– Ribbon Assorted: 3 x approx 40 cm
– Ribbon Blue: 1 x approx 60-80 cm

The Big Clam

Top Half
Make a magic circle
ROW 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 5 DC into ring (6 DC), TURN
ROW 2: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (6 SC), TURN
ROW 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST. Work 2 DC into each SC until end (12 DC), TURN
ROW 4: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (12 DC), TURN
ROW 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next ST. *Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next ST. Repeat from until end (18 DC), TURN
ROW 6: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (18 DC), TURN
ROW 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next 2 STS. *Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next 2 STS. Repeat from until end (24 DC), TURN
ROW 8: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (24 DC), TURN
ROW 9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next 3 STS. *Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next 3 STS. Repeat from until end (30 DC), TURN
ROW 10: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (36 DC), TURN
ROW 11: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next 4 STS. *Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next 4 STS. Repeat from until end (36 DC), TURN
ROW 12: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (36 DC), TURN
ROW 13: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next 5 STS. *Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next 5 STS. Repeat from until end (42 DC), TURN
ROW 14: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (42 DC), TURN
ROW 15: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into next 6 STS. *Work 2 DC into next ST, work 1 DC into next 6 STS. Repeat from until end (48 DC), TURN
ROW 16: CH 1, work 1 SC into each DC (48 SC), DO NOT TURN
continue down the side, SKIP 1 ST row;
[work 2 SC into next DC row, work 1 SC into next SC row] repeat until end of side
CH 1
continue up the other side
[work 2 SC into next DC row, work 1 SC into next SC row] repeat until end of side, skip last ROW and SL ST into first SC of row 8
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Bottom Half
Rejoin yarn into the 1 CH space at the point of the bottom half
ROW 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 5 DC into 1 CH space (6 DC), TURN
ROW 2 – ROW 16: Repeat instructions for bottom half
continue down the side, SKIP 1 ST row;
[work 2 SC into next DC row, work 1 SC into next SC row] repeat until end of side
SL ST into 1 CH space
continue up the other side
[work 2 SC into next DC row, work 1 SC into next SC row] repeat until end of side, skip last ROW and SL ST into first SC.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing

Join white/cream yarn into the first SC on the top row of the top half of the clam.
Work 4 SC into same ST.
Work 5 SC into each ST until end.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Make a magic circle
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 11 DC into ring (12 DC); SL ST into top of 3rd ST of 3 CH
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 1 DC into same ST. Work 2 DC into each ST all around ( 24 DC), SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH
Fins
SL ST into first ST, work [1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 TR] into next ST;
work [1 TR, 1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC] into next ST;
SL ST into next ST;
work [1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 TR] into next ST;
work [1 TR, 1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC] into next ST; SL ST into next ST;
CH 5  (this is the loop for the back); turn fish so that the wrong side is facing towards you – SL ST around the DC in-between the fins – NOTE: the DC into with the center SL ST was made 🙂

Glue/Sew or Embroider eyes onto the fish.
Using photos as guide, knot 3 ribbons to the one side of the page;
weave ribbon thru the loops on the back of the fish; knot the other ribbon end 🙂

Sew a button in the center of the clam – use photo as guide. Because of the ‘frill’ I use the space in-between two DC’s as my button hole 🙂

CREATING THE PLAYBOOK:

Take the long ribbon and weave it thru a large eye wool needle;
Place your pages onto top of each other and starting at the left bottom side;
insert your needle from the bottom up thru the last row on all the pages;
pull the ribbon thru

Tie a bow to knot the ribbon in place.
SKIP THE NEXT ROW; and weave the ribbon thru the next row –
continue this way until the end
