ASSEMBLING THE FIRST CUSHION SQUARE:

Position the four rectangle panels as shown in the photo;
position the octagon square in the center – this is to determine how many more
rounds will be needed to complete the octagon square
Note: this is to accommodate the difference in yarn and tension

Size Adjusting Round:
Join yarn (new color) into any center DC of a 5 DC group;
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2 DC into same ST;
work 1 DC into each DC until next corner 5 DC group.
*Work 3 DC into center DC of 5 DC group, work 1 DC into each DC until next corner 5 DC group.
Repeat all around, join with a SL ST into top of 3rd of 3 CH.
REPEAT ROUND: Join yarn (new color) into any center DC of corner 3 DC group;
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), work 2 DC into same ST, work 1 DC into each ST until next center DC of corner 3 DC group.
*Work 3 DC into center DC of 3 DC group, work 1 DC into each ST until next center DC of corner 3 DC group.

Repeat the REPEAT ROUND until the Octagon Square fits snugly into the space created by the four panels

I only needed one REPEAT ROUND to fit my square.

SEWING THE PANELS AND SQUARE TOGETHER:
I used the SLIP STITCH method to join my square to the four panels – this method is not for everyone – use whatever method you are comfortable with.

I worked anti-clockwise to sew everything together 🙂

I have been a crochet designer for more than 10 years. I love to think outside the box and to try and do things a bit differently. I love to learn new techniques and to challenge myself. I firmly believe that crochet should fun and evoke joy and pleasure. Creating and designing is one of my life's passions.

“Crochet is an art and crocheters it’s artists. Each crafted item is unique and own to its crafter”
