Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Bulky / medium worsted (No 4) yarn approx 495 yards (maybe less depending on tension and length)
Elle Pure Gold Chunky Soft Lilac 50 gram x 1
Small amounts of white and pink cotton yarn for flower
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 5,50 mm
Hook 3, 00 mm for flower
Yarn needle
Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
Size: Fits my daughter age 5 (head size [circumference] 52 cm)
To resize – remove a round or add a round (12 st increase/decrease)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Make a magic ring;
THE TOP:
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 11 DC (12 DC); SL ST into top of 3rd CH of 3 CH
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST;
then work 2 DC into each DC all around ( 24 DC); then SL ST into top of 3rd CH of 3 CH
RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; then work 1 DC into next DC;
*work 2 DC into next DC; then work 1 DC into next DC. Repeat from * all around (36 DC); then SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; then work 1 DC into next 2 DC;
*work 2 DC into next DC; then work 1 DC into next 2 DC. Repeat from * all around (48 DC); then S:L ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; then work 1 DC into next 3 DC;
*work 2 DC into next DC; then work 1 DC into next 3 DC. Repeat from * all around (60 DC); then S:L ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; then work 1 DC into next 4 DC;
*work 2 DC into next DC; then work 1 DC into next 4 DC. Repeat from * all around (72 DC); then S:L ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH
THE SIDE:
RND 7: CH 4 (counts as 1 DC and 1 CH); then SKIP next ST;
*work 1 DC into next DC; then SKIP next ST. Repeat from * all around; then SL ST into 3rd CH of 4 CH.
RND 8 – 12: Repeat round 7.
THE RIM:
RND 13: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same ST; then work 1 DC into 1 CH space;
*work 2 DC into next DC; then work 1 DC into next 1 CH space. Repeat from * all around; then SL ST into 3rd CH of 3 CH.
RND 14: CH 1; work 2 SC into same ST; then work 1 SC into next 2 STS;
*work 2 SC into next ST; then work 1 SC into next 2 STS. Repeat from all around; then SL ST into first SC; fasten off and weave in ends.
Flower:
Approx 5 cm x 5 cm in diameter
With white yarn, make a magic ring
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), then work 11 DC into ring, SL ST into top of 3 CH (12 DC). Fasten off and weave in ends
RND 2: Join pink yarn into any.
*SL ST into next 2 STS, CH 3, then work 2 DC into same ST. Repeat from * until end of round (6 x petals). SL ST into first ST, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
