MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Any leftover; scraps of yarn (Moya 100% cotton yarn)
Small amounts approx 20 – 50 yards
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 3, 25 mm
Yarn needle
3 Decorative Buttons
Empty Jar
Optional – cardboard for card

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet

Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Measure the length of your jar or the space you wish to cover with the cozy, then make a chain that size;
the cozy is made in simple SC.

Example:

CH 16

ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each ST until end (15 SC)

ROW 2: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end (15 SC).

Repeat ROW 2 for length required or until length needed for cozy to fit around jar.
Note; I changed color 5 rows before completion; then after 5 rows;

LAST ROW: *CH 6 (button hole); SKIP 4; SL ST into 5th ST. Repeat from * 2 more times;
then SC all around cozy evenly for a border. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Mini Hearts: (make 3)

Make a magic ring;

CH 3; work 2 DC into ring; work 1 HDC into ring; work 1 SC into ring;
work 1 DC into ring (point);
work 1 SC into ring; work 1 HDC into ring; work 2 DC into ring; CH 3; SL ST into ring.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew next to button holes; add 3 buttons on the opposite end of cozy.

OPTIONAL; MEDIUM HEART FOR CARD

Make a make ring;
CH 4; work 2 TR into ring; work 2 DC into ring; work 2 HDC into ring; work 1 SC into ring;
work 1 DC into ring (point); work 1 SC into ring; work 2 HDC into ring; work 2 DC into ring;l
work 2 TR into ring; CH 4; SL ST into ring.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

I made 2 in different  yarns – so one worked out smaller than the other; so I sewed them together then attached (glued) them onto my small card.
I made a chain in one corner to slip the card over the top of the jar.
