INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE: The colors in the tutorial photos differ from the blanket flowers – for your convenience I have added the tutorial colors in brackets.

For Part 3 – Make 6
For Part 7 – Make 6

With ARAN (pink) yarn make a magic ring;

RND 1: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 5 HDC into ring;
join with a SL ST into 2nd CH of 2 CH (6 HDC).

RND 2: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 1 HDC into same ST;
work 2 HDC into each ST all around (12 HDC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

RND 3: join PINK (aran)  yarn to any HDC;
CH 1, work 1 SC into same ST;
*CH 3; SKIP next ST; work 1 SC into next ST.
Repeat from * 4 more times;
CH 3; SKIP next ST; join with a SL ST into first SC.

RND 4:  SL ST into first 3 CH space;
work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into the 3 CH space; SL ST into next SC.
* work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into the 3 CH space; SL ST into next SC.
Repeat from * 4 more times; SL ST into first SL ST.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

RND 5: join WHITE (white)  yarn to any first SC of a ‘petal’ with a SL ST;
work 1 SC into next HDC; work 1 HDC into next DC; work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next TR;
work 1 HDC into next DC; work 1 SC into next HDC; work a SL ST into next SC.
*SL ST into next SC; work 1 SC into next HDC; work 1 HDC into next DC; work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next TR;
work 1 HDC into next DC; work 1 SC into next HDC; work a SL ST into next SC.
Repeat from * 4 more times; SL ST into first SL ST.
Fasten off and weave in end.

 

RND 6: join GREEN (pink) yarn around any SC of RND 3; (SEE PHOTO)
*CH 3; SL ST around next SC from RND 3;
[CH 4; SL ST around next SC from RND 3] twice.
Repeat from * once more; join with a SL ST into first SL ST.

 

RND 7: SL ST into first 3 CH space;
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 3 DC into same 3 CH space;
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 4 DC] into next 4 CH space;
work [4 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next 4 CH space;
work 4 DC into next 3 CH space;
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 4 DC] into next 4 CH space;
work [4 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next 4 CH space;
join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

RND 8: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC);
*work 1 DC into each ST until 2 CH space (corner);
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space.
Repeat from * 3 more times; work 1 DC into each remaining STS;
join with a SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

RND 9: CH 1; *work 1 SC into each ST to corner;
work [2 SC; 1 CH; 2 SC] into next 2 CH corner space.
Repeat from * 3 more times; work 1 SC into each remaining STS;
join with a SL ST into first SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

FINAL STITCH COUNT – 16 SC ON EACH SIDE.

SEW  THE 6 SQUARES TOGETHER AND SEW ONTO THE SOILED SECTION:
