Fairy-tale inspiration – Cinderella
INSTRUCTIONS:
The Pumpkin Carriage:
Bottom: With (orange) yarn, make a magic circle
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 7 DC into ring (8 DC); TURN
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 2 DC into each DC (16 DC); TURN
RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 1 DC into next DC.
*Work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next DC. Repeat from * until end (24 DC); TURN
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC.
*Work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 2 DC. Repeat from * until end (32 DC); TURN
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 1 DC into next 3 DC.
*Work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 3 DC. Repeat from * until end (40 DC); TURN
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into SAME DC; work 1 DC into next 4 DC.
*Work 2 DC into next DC; work 1 DC into next 4 DC. Repeat from * until end (48 DC);
DO NOT TURN;
work up 24 SC evenly along the bottom edge; fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Top: With (orange) yarn, CH 34
ROW 1: Work 1 DC into 4th CH from hook; work 1 DC into next 2 CH; work 2 DC into next CH.
*Work 1 DC into next 3 CH; work 2 DC into next CH. Repeat from * until end (40 DC); TURN
ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next 3 DC; work 2 DC into next DC.
*Work 1 DC into next 4 DC; work 2 DC into next DC. Repeat from * until end (48 DC); TURN
ROW 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into each DC across (48 SC); fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
With some green yarn; join with a SL ST into center top of the pumpkin top;
**CH 8/9/ or 10; work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; *work 2 SC into next; work 1 SC into next.
Repeat from * until end; SL ST into next ST and repeat from **.

Horse:
With (grey or any color you wish to make the horse) yarn, CH 13
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH until end (12 SC); TURN
ROW 2-5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end (12 SC); TURN
ROW 6: CH 1; work 1 SC into next 11 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (13 SC); TURN
Shaping Head:
ROW 7: CH 1; work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 3 SC; SL ST into next SC (5 SC); TURN
ROW 8: SKIP SL ST; work 1 SC into next 4 SC; work 2 SC into last SC (6 SC); TURN
ROW 9: Work 2 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into next 5 SC (7 SC); TURN
ROW 10: Work 1 SC into next 7 SC; CH 4; TURN
ROW 11; Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next 2 CH; work 1 SC into next 5 SC; SC2tog (9 SC); TURN
ROW 12: SC2tog; work 1 SC into next ST; work 2 DC into next ST; work 1 DC into next ST; work 2 DC into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; SC2tog.
DO NOT TURN
SL ST all around horse. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
NOTE: if you would like to work in the ears with your main color work ROW 12 as follows:
ROW 12: SC2tog; work 1 SC into next ST; work 2 DC into next ST; CH 3; SL ST into 2nd CH; SL ST into next CH; work 1 DC into next ST; work 2 DC into next ST; CH 3; SL ST into 2nd CH; SL ST into next CH; work 1 SC into next ST; SC2tog.
For the Tail:
Cut approx 9 x 30 cm pieces of yarn – I did brown; grey and cream;
Then make a tassel for the tail.
For the Mane:
Cut approx 9 x 30 cm pieces of yarn – I did brown; grey and cream;
Then working thru the slip stitches I knotted year yarn piece.
Ears: optional – I wanted brown ears – so I attached my brown yarn the worked;
CH 3; SL ST into 2nd CH; SL ST into next CH; SL ST into next; CH 3; SL ST into 2nd CH; SL ST into next CH; fasten off; then I used the tails to be part of my mane
With some yellow I embroidered the mouth part of the rein.
I sewed on Ribbons for the legs – this is optional.
If you would like to crochet legs – you can either attach your yarn to the bottom;
CH approx 16 SC; then work 15 SC; SL ST into body a few stitched and repeat form 2nd leg.
Or work them separately and join afterwards – CH 16; work 1 SC into 2nd; work 1 SC into each CH (15 SC); fasten off and sew onto body.
Glue a 10 mm googly eye onto face and (optional) embroider a mouth.
TIP – if making for small (toddlers) rather embroider eyes or sew on small buttons securely.
Princess:
Dress:
With (pink) yarn, CH 22
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next 2 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into next 4 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into next 3 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into next 4 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into last 3 STS; TURN (29 SC)
ROW 2: CH1; work 1 SC into next 3 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into next 6 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into next 7 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into next 6 STS; work 3 SC into next ST; work 1 SC into last 3 STS; TURN (37 SC)
ROW 3: CH1; work 1 SC into next 4 STS; SKIP 8 STS; work 1 SC into next 13 STS; SKIP 8 STS; work 1 SC into next 4 STS; TURN (21 SC)
ROW 4: CH1; work 1 SC into each ST (21 SC); SL ST into first SC – continue working in the round
RND 5: work into BACK LOOPS ONLY – CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 2 HDC into SAME ST;
*SKIP next ST; work 3 HDC into next. Repeat from * all around; note: You will work the last 3 HDC into the last ST of the round. CH 1, SL ST into top of 2 CH.
RND 6: SL ST into next 2 HDC; work 3 HDC into space between 3 HDC groups all around; work last 3 HDC into 1 CH space; SL ST into 2nd of 2 CH.
Repeat round 6 for length – I did my last two rows in white
BORDER RND:
SL ST into each HDC; then in-between groups; make a picot [CH 3; SL ST into 2nd CH from hook];
Fasten off and weave in ends.
WAIST FRILL:
Join yarn into a loop at the back of dress; then work 3 SC into SAME loop; then 3 SC into next loop.
Continue working 3 SC into each loop all around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
BUILDING THE PAGE:
Surface whip-stitch all the pieces into place.
You only catch the surface top stitches so that you stitches do NOT go thru to the other side of the page

- STEP ONE: Attach the Tree- bark first then tops – add decorative flower buttons (optional)
- STEP TWO: attach the pumpkin – bottom – work ONLY the outsides to form a ‘pocket’; attach the top part. Attach buttons for wheels (optional) or crochet them (simple SC circle; magic ring; work 6 SC into ring; work 2 SC into each SC (12 SC); work 2 SC into next; work 1 SC into next.
- STEP THREE: attach horse
- STEP FOUR: optional using ‘hooks and loops’ add some birds.
