Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Concentration required.
Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light
Color – 5 colors – color change indicted in pattern
Hook: 4.00 mm
Size:4 & 1/2 inches

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet

4DC Cluster
COLORS: A – Sunshine (yellow); B – Watermelon (pink); C – Lilac (purple) ; D – Olive (Green); E – Fig (purple); F – Lime (green); G – Rose (pink)
INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: This is SQUARE ONE – you need to make 4 for the Groovy Baby Blanket.
With color A
Make a magic ring – (need to learn how to make the magic ring? Click Here!)
RND 1: CH 1; work 1 SC into ring; CH 2;
*work 1 SC into ring; CH 2. Repeat from * 6 more times.
SL ST into FIRST SC worked.
(8 x 2 CH spaces; 8 SC)
Fasten off.
Join color B into any 2 CH space
NOTE: when working round 2 – work over your yarn tails.
RND 2: *Into 2 CH space work [2 CH; 1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC; 2 CH] SL ST into next 2 CH space.
Repeat from * 7 more times. SL ST into the base of the BEGINNING 2 CH.
(8 petals)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join color C with a SL ST AROUND any SC of RND 1
RND 3: *CH 3; SL ST around NEXT SC of RND 1.
Repeat from * 7 more times.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
SL ST into the next 3 CH space
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into SAME space; CH 1;
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 1;
*work 3 DC into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 1;
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into NEXT 3 CH space; CH 1.
Repeat from * 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
SL ST into NEXT 2 DC and 1 CH space
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into same space; CH 1;
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into NEXT 2 CH corner space; CH 1;
*work [3 DC into NEXT 1 CH space; CH 1;] x 2
work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into NEXT 2 CH corner space; CH 1.
Repeat from * 2 more times; work 3 DC into NEXT 1 CH space; CH 1; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join color D into any 2 CH corner space
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same 2 CH space; work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space of previous round until next 2 CH corner space;
Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner space;
work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space of previous round until next 2 CH corner space.] x 3;
SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(17 DC on each side = 68 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join color E into any 2 CH corner space
RND 7: CH 3; work a 3 DC Cluster into SAME space; work BPDC around each DC until next 2 CH corner space;
*work 4DC Cluster into 2 CH corner space; work BPDC around each DC until next corner.
Repeat from * 2 more times; SL ST into top of 3DC Cluster.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Final Stitch Count = 17 BPDC on each side PLUS 1 x 4DC Cluster in each corner
When blocked the Lazy Daisy Granny Square should be approx 4 & 1/2 inches
with DK (no 3) yarn and 4.00 mm hook.
