Part Of The 2017 Holiday Blog Hop!
SKILL LEVEL: Easy, may require concentration
1 Round RED Scrubbie (can be bought at most Grocery’s)
Red Heart Yarn
- Cherry Red
Any color(s) can be used as a substitute.
This is a good project to use scrap yarn!
HOOK: H/8-5.00 mm Boye USA
Sc – Single Crochet
Trc – Treble Crochet
Ch – Chain
SlSt- Slip Stitch
FOWE – Fasten Off, Weave in Ends
Rnd 1: Using White, insert your hook into the edge of the scrubbie (you need enough room so the yarn does not pull out leaving a hole in the scrubbie itself),
YO, pull a loop thru;
Yo, insert hook into edge of scrubbie again;
Yo pull thru 2 loops on hook;
(evenly space each sc as much as possible – it doesn’t matter how many sc you make),
*Yo, insert hook into scrubbie, yo pull thru 2 loops; repeat from * around scrubbie;
join with slst into first sc.
Here is photos of the front and back side of the Santa’s Scrubbie. It shows how to evenly (but I could have done better) distribute the sc around the scrubby.
Rnd 2: Change color to Cherry Red, insert in any sc;
Ch 4 (counts as first trc),
trc in same sc x2;
*trc x3 in next sc, around,
sl st in 4th of beg ch-4.
FOWE (each sc has 3 trc’s so it depends upon the number of sc’s you make for the number of trc’s you make).
Rnd 3: Change color to White, join in any trc;
Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch),
sc in joining stitch,
ch 1, sc in next trc all around;
join with sl st in beginning sc.
Play with the yarn to make it ruffle around the scrubbie.
Enjoy making your scrubbie!
I have been a crochet designer for more than 10 years. I love to think outside the box and to try and do things a bit differently. I love to learn new techniques and to challenge myself. I firmly believe that crochet should fun and evoke joy and pleasure. Creating and designing is one of my life's passions.
