Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Concentration required.

Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light – I used cotton yarn – check the main introduction page!
Color – 5 colors – color change indicted in pattern

Hook: 3.25 mm

Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Notes:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect

I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet
BLP – back loop

Special Stitches:

FPDC – front post double crochet

Insert your hook into the front of your work, behind the indicated stitch, and then through your work such that your hook is now at the front of your work again. Pull through final 2 loops on your hook.

FPTR – front post treble crochet

INSTRUCTIONS:

With Skyfall – C;

CH 6; SL ST to form a ring;

RND 1: CH 1; work 12 SC into ring (12 SC);
SL ST into first SC worked;

RND 2: work into back-loops – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); CH 1;
(work 1 DC into next SC; CH 1) x 11;
SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(12 DC; 12 x 1 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Coaldust – D;

join new color into any 1 CH space

RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same space; CH 1;
*work 2 DC into next 1 CH space; CH 1.
Repeat from * 10 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(24 DC; 12 x 1 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Seashore – E;

join new color into any 1 CH space

RND 4: CH 1; work [1 SC into chain space; work 1 FPDC around RND 2 DC; work 1 SC into same chain space]; SKIP NEXT 2 DC; CH 2.
*Work [1 SC into NEXT chain space; work 1 FPDC around RND 2 DC; work 1 SC into same chain space]; SKIP NEXT 2 DC; CH 2.
Repeat from * 10 more times; SL ST into first SC worked.
(12 FPDC; 12 x 2 CH spaces; 24 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Natural – A;

join new color into any 2 CH space

RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into same chain space;
SKIP next (1 SC; 1 FPDC; 1 SC); CH 2.
*Work 3 DC into NEXT 2 CH space; SKIP next (1 SC; 1 FPDC; 1 SC); CH 2.
Repeat from * 10 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(36 DC – 12 x 3 DC groups; 12 x 2 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Pebble – B;

join new color into any 2 CH space

RND 6: CH 1; work 1 HDC into chain space; work 1 FPTR around FPDC; work 1 HDC into same chain space; work 1 HDC into the back-loops of the next 3 DC group.
*Work 1 HDC  into NEXT chain space; work 1 FPTR around FPDC; work 1 HDC into same chain space; work 1 HDC into the back-loops of the next 3 DC group.
Repeat from * 10 mores times; SL ST into first HDC worked.
(12 FPTR; 24 HDC worked into 2 CH spaces; 36 HDC worked into the back-loops of DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Skyfall – C;

join new color into any HDC worked into the FIRST DC OF A 3 DC GROUP.

RND 7: CH 1; *work 1 SC into the back-loop of each next 3 HDC; CH 3;
SKIP next (1 HDC; 1 FPTR; 1 HDC).
Repeat from * 11 more times; SL ST into first SC worked.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF

SL ST into next 2 HDC; SL ST into 3 CH space;

RND 8: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); *work [2 TR; 3 CH; 3 TR] into same chain space;
(CH 3; SKIP next 3 SC; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space) x 2; CH 3.
*Work [3 TR; 3 CH; 3 TR] into NEXT 3 CH space;
(CH 3; SKIP next 3 SC; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space) x 2; CH 3.
Repeat from * 2 more times; SL ST into 4th of 4 CH.
Fasten off and weave ends.

With Coaldust – D

join new color into any 3 CH corner space

For this round work into back-loops only

RND 9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same space;
work 1 DC into next 3 TR
(work 1 DC into each next 3 CH; work 1 DC into next 3 DC) 2 times;
work 1 DC into each of next 3 CH; work 1 DC into next 3 TR.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same space;
work 1 DC into next 3 TR
(work 1 DC into each next 3 CH; work 1 DC into next 3 DC) 2 times;
work 1 DC into each of next 3 CH; work 1 DC into next 3 TR.
Repeat from * 2 more times.
SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(25 DC on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Seashore – E

join new color into any 2 CH corner space

For this round work into back-loops only

RND 10: Work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into each corner;
work 1 SC into each DC of previous round.
SL ST into first SC worked; (27 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Natural – A;

join new color into any 2 CH corner space

For this round work into back-loops only

RND 11: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work [1 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into same space;
work 1 TR into each SC until next corner.
*Work [2 TR; 2 CH; 2 TR] into same space;
work 1 TR into each SC until next corner.
Repeat from * 2 more times.
SL ST into 4th of 4 CH; (31 TR)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With Skyfall – C;

Join yarn into any 2 CH corner space;

For this round work into back-loops only

NOTE: you can remove or add after the border round to get your required size – you can change the stitches to SC/HDC/DC or TR.
Just Remember – to STOP at the SAME round for each of your squares to ensure easy joining and CORRECT (same) stitch count.

BORDER RND: CH 3 (this counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner;
work 1 DC into each TR until next corner.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into corner; work 1 DC into each TR until next corner.
Repeat from * 2 more times.
(35 DC per side = total stitch count 140 DC)
SL ST into 3rd of starting 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
