Special Stitches:

How to Work Crossed Double Stitch:

For the crossed double crochet stitch (abbreviated crossed dc), you work two double crochet stitches on an angle. When you make a crossed double crochet stitch, you end up with a pattern that looks like an X.

  • Work 1 double crochet stitch into the next stitch.
  • Work 1 double crochet stitch into the SKIPPED stitch.

Double Crochet 5 Together Cluster (5DCtog):

  • Yarn over insert hook into next stitch, yarn over draw yarn through (3 loops), yarn over pull through 2 loops (2 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next stitch, yarn over draw through (4 loops),
    yarn over pull through 2 loops (3 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next stitch, yarn over draw through (5 loops),
    yarn over pull through 2 loops (4 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next stitch, yarn over draw through (6 loops),
    yarn over pull through 2 loops (5 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next stitch, yarn over draw through (7 loops),
    yarn over pull through 2 loops (6 loops)
  • Yarn over draw through all 6 loops on hook

How to Work the Crochet V-Stitch:

  • Work 1 double crochet stitch, chain 1 stitch, and work another double crochet stitch into the same space/stitch.
    Exp – Work [1 DC; 1 CH; 1 DC] into ST.

How to Work Back Post Double Crochet Stitch (BPDC):

  • Yarn over and insert your hook from back to front between the posts of the first and second double crochet in the row below, and then from front to back again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
  • The hook should now be positioned horizontally in front of the double crochet that you’re working around.
  • Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
  • You now have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
  • One back post double crochet (BPDC) is complete.

How to Work Front-Post Double-Crochet (FPDC):

  • Yarn over and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
  • The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
  • Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
  • You now have 3 loops on the hook.
  • Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
  • One front post double crochet (FPDC) is complete.

PART SIX:

NOTE: Stitch count is IMPORTANT! You will AL WAYS end up with 80 at the end of your row to start the next stitch pattern – (CH, ST, SPACES); when you start a NEXT stitch pattern section – your stitch count NEEDS to be 80.
Don’t let this scare you! This is for the beginners and those who have not done these type of stitch patterns before!

Change Color to A.

ROW 132: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (80 SC); TURN.

ROW 133: CH 3 (this counts as 1 DC); SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into the SKIPPED SC (Cross Stitch made); work Cross Stitch until LAST ST; work 1 DC into last ST (39 Cross Stitches); TURN.

ROW 134: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (80 SC); TURN.

Change Color to B.

ROW 135: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (80 SC); TURN.

NOTE: reason for working 4 CH in-between SHELLS and not 3 CH – TENSION! With this stitch pattern – working only 3 CH with pull the pattern inward and we need to keep it level with other stitch patterns!
3 CH spaces are ONLY worked at the START & END of ROW 137!

ROW 136: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); SKIP 2 SC (notethis is the ONLY skip 2 for this row);
(work 5 DC into next SC; SKIP 3 SC) 19 times; work 1 DC into LAST ST (19 x 5 DC SHELLS); TURN.

ROW 137: CH 6 (this counts as 1 DC and 3 CH); (work 5DCtog over next 5 DC SHELL; CH 4) 18 times;
work 5DCtog over next 5 DC SHELL; CH 3; work 1 DC into LAST ST.

ROW 138: CH 1; work 1 SC into FIRST DC; work 2 SC into 3 CH space; work 1 SC into top of 5DC Cluster;
(work 3 SC into 4 CH; work 1 SC into top of 5DC Cluster) 18 times; work 3 SC into 3 CH; work 1 SC into 3rd of 6 CH, TURN.
(80 SC)

BORDER:

Change Color to C.

ROW 139: CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC until end (80 SC); TURN.

ROW 140: CH 1; work 1 SC into next first SC; work 1 HDC into next SC; work 1 DC into next SC, work 1 TR into next 2 SC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 HDC into next SC; work 1 SC into next SC.
*Work the following over the next 8 SC –  [ 1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; 2 TR; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC]. **
Repeat from * to ** 8 more times. TURN.

ROW 141: SL ST into first SC; 1 SC into next HDC; 1 HDC into next DC; [1 DC; 1 TR] into next TR;
CH 7; work 3 DC into 4th CH from hook; CH 3; work [1 TR; 1 DC] into next TR; 1 HDC into next DC; 1 SC into next HDC; SL ST into next SC. *Work the following over the next 8 STS – [SL ST; 1 SC; 1 HDC; (1 DC; 1 TR); CH 7;
work 3 DC into 4th CH from hook; CH 3; (1 TR; 1 DC); 1 HDC; 1 SC; SL ST].
Repeat from * to ** 8 more times.

Optional – I did NOT TURN – I continued working SC evenly down the side of my wrap until I reached the bottom;
THEN I fasten off and switched to Change Color to H; and repeated the instructions for the Border; then worked SC evenly down the remaining side of the wrap.
