INSTRUCTIONS:
PART THREE:
There is no fixed color sequence – you can use colors randomly or in order, even solid color through out – completely YOUR CHOICE!
NOTE: if with the first color section you measure your piece to the first piece and it over laps a lot on the sides – use a size smaller hook. If you decrease the ch the stitch count will not match the first piece.
The first piece has 63 sts across on each side and 3 in each corner.
With first color yarn CH 66
ROW 1: work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH across; (65 SC) TURN
ROW 2: CH 2 (does NOT count as ST); work 1 DC into first SC; work 1 DC into next SC;
(SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into SKIPPED DC) – Cross Stitch Made.
*Work 1 DC into next DC; work Cross Stitch. Repeat from * across. ending with a DC into last SC; TURN
ROW 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across; (65 SC) TURN
ROW 4: CH 2 (does NOT count as ST); work 1 DC into first SC;
(SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into SKIPPED DC) – Cross Stitch Made.
*Work 1 DC into next DC; work Cross Stitch. Repeat from * across. ending with a DC into last 2 SC; TURN
ROW 5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across; (65 SC) TURN
change color
ROW 6: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across; (65 SC) TURN
ROW 7: CH 3 (does NOT count as ST); work 1 TR into first SC; work 1 TR into each SC across; (65 TR); TURN

ROW 9: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across; (65 SC) TURN
ROW 10: repeat ROW 2-5
change color
ROW 11: repeat ROW 6-8**
Repeat pattern instructions from * to ** until piece measures approx 30 cm x 30 cm (11 inches)
NOTE: If you do NOT wish to make an overlapping piece with buttons – then you can repeat instructions until piece measures approx 38 cm x 38 cm ( approx 14/15 inches) – the same as the first piece.
I did 10 color changes in total to reach my size.
