MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Elle Pure Gold DK – Soft Moss (approx 50 grams) – they are available in 100 gram

For the stars and border I used – Vinnis Colours – Nikkim 100% cotton yarn – Ruby Grapefruit

Hooks & Notions:
Hook 4, 00 mm
Yarn needle
Optional 2/3 large press buttons (press fasteners)

Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

Size: approx 4 inches in length (10 cm)

Abbreviations:

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop

Special Stitches:

Cross Stitch – instructions in pattern

4DCtog – crochet 4 double crochet stitches together into same CH

INSTRUCTIONS:

With  yarn CH 21

ROW 1: work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH across; (20 SC) TURN

ROW 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); (SKIP next SC; work 1 DC into next SC; work 1 DC into SKIPPED DC) – Cross Stitch Made.
*Work 1 DC into next DC; work Cross Stitch. Repeat from * across. ending with a DC into last SC; TURN

ROW 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across; (20 SC) TURN

Repeat ROWS 2-3: 4 more times;

ROW 12 – 16: CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 1 HDC into each SC across (20 HDC) TURN

ROW 17: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST across; (20 SC) TURN

Repeat ROWS 2-3: as many times as needed – I repeated a further 24 times for the cowl – but it can be made longer and into a scarf too!

Fasten off and weave in ends.

The Stars:

With a contrasting color:

Make 3

Make a magic ring / or CH 6

RND 1: work 10 SC into ring;
RND 2: SL ST into first SC worked; CH 4; work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook;
work 1 HDC into next CH; work 1 DC into last CH.
*SL ST into next 2 SC; CH 4; work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook;
work 1 HDC into next CH; work 1 DC into last CH.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Sew onto the HDC rows section.

The Pompom Border:

With a contrasting color:

join yarn into first SC;

CH 1; work 1 SC into same ST; CH 6; work 4DCtog into 4th CH from hook; CH 1; SKIP 2 SC.
*Work 1 SC into next SC; CH 6; work 4DCtog into 4th CH from hook; CH 1; SKIP 2 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** 5 more times; ending with a SC into last SC.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Optional – Repeat border for other side if you like!

I added two large press buttons – on the back side of the Stars Section then on the opposite side so that my daughter can fit it around her neck – with the press buttons she can easily undo it and fit it herself!
