Size: approx 12 cm / 5 inches in width & 50 cm / 20 inches in length before being folded and sewed.
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
Cross Stitch – instructions in pattern
This image above shows DC (double crochet) but I use TR (treble) in the stitch pattern AND I
have a skipped CH in-between! This ONLY applies for the foundation ROW.
3DCtog – crochet 3 double crochet stitches together into same CH
With yarn CH 23 (35 or 47 – applies if you would like to make it wider)
ROW 1: work 1 TR into 7th CH from hook; CH 1; work 1 TR into the 5th CH from hook (Cross Stitch Made);
*SKIP next 2 CH; work 1 TR into next CH; CH 1; work 1 TR into FIRST SKIPPED CH of 2 CH.**
Repeat from * to **; work 1 TR into last CH; TURN
ROW 2: CH 4 (counts as 1 DC & 1 CH); * work 3DCtog into next 1 CH space (between 2 TR); CH 3.**
Repeat from * to ** until end; omit the last 3 CH and CH only 1; work 1 DC into last TR; TURN
ROW 3: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work 1 TR into next 3 CH space; CH 1; work 1 TR back into the 1 CH space;
*SKIP next 3 CH space; work 1 TR into next 3 CH space; CH 1; work 1 TR into SKIPPED 3 CH SPACE.**
Repeat from * to ** until end; work 1 TR into 1 CH space; CH 1; work 1 TR into SKIPPED 3 CH SPACE; work 1 TR into turning CH. TURN
Repeat ROW 2 & 3 for desired length. – I used up my whole 50 gram ball for this cowl – then used my ending tail to SL ST the two short sides together.
I have been a crochet designer for more than 10 years. I love to think outside the box and to try and do things a bit differently. I love to learn new techniques and to challenge myself. I firmly believe that crochet should fun and evoke joy and pleasure. Creating and designing is one of my life's passions.
