Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Concentration required.

Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light – I used cotton yarn – check the main introduction page!

Hook: 4,00 mm (G)

Size: 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches)

Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet
BLP – back loop

SPECIAL STITCHES:

Clusters – 3DCtog – 3 double crochet together – into same space or stitch.

FPDC – Front post double crochet

V-ST – work [1 DC; CH 2; 1 DC] into same DC

Colors: – the colors in () are the old colors for those continuing in the first color sequence

• Natural – color A (B)
• Seafoam – color B (E/A)
• Pomegranate – color C (D)
• Fern – color D (F/G)
• Taupe – color E (C)

INSTRUCTIONS:

With Color A

CH 8; SL ST into first CH to form a ring

RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2DCtog; CH 2.
*Work Cluster; CH 2.** Repeat from * to ** 6 more times.
SL ST into top of 2DCtog.
(8 x Clusters)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color D; join into any 2 CH space

RND 2: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH space); work 1 DC into SAME space;
(work V-ST into next 2 CH space) 7 times; SL ST into 3rd of 5 CH.
(8 x V-ST)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color C; join into any 2 CH of a V-ST

RND 3: CH 5 (counts as 1 DC and 2 CH space); work 1 DC into SAME space; work FPTR around next RND 1 Cluster.
*Work V-ST into next 2 CH space; work FPTR around next RND 1 Cluster.**
Repeat from * to ** 6 more times.
(8 x FPTR; 8 x V-ST)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color E; join into any V-ST 2 CH space

Clusters for THIS round – 4DCtog – 4 double crochet together – into same space or stitch.

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 3DCtog; CH 2; work FPDC around next FPTR; CH 2.
*Work Cluster into next 2 CH space; CH 2; work FPDC around next FPTR; CH 2.**
Repeat from * to ** 6 more times; SL ST into top of first Cluster.
(8 x Clusters; 8 X FPDC; 16 x 2 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With color D; join into any 2 CH space BEFORE a FPDC

RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into same space; work FPDC around next FPDC; work 2 DC into next 2 CH space; work FPDC around next Cluster.
