  • C –Tomato approx 30/40g

Size 3.50 mm

Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect.

Notes: Tension is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect – same type of yarn and hook throughout the project is recommended.

Notes:
I use US Crochet stitch terminology.
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

Abbreviations:

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop

CH 3/Standing DC at the start of a round counts as your FIRST DC.

INSTRUCTIONS

With A – make a magic ring/or CH 6 and SL ST to form a ring

RND 1: CH 3/or Standing DC; work 11 DC into ring; SL ST into FIRST DC.
(12 DC)

RND 2: CH 3/or Standing DC; work 1 DC into SAME DC; (work 2 DC into next DC) x 11; SL ST into FIRST DC. (24 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Special Stitch:
Starting Cluster – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 3 double crochet together into one stitch.
Cluster – 4DCtog – work 4 double crochet together into one stitch.

With B – join into any DC with Starting Cluster.

RND 3: (CH 4; SKIP next DC; work Cluster into next DC) x 11; CH 4; SLST into top of Starting Cluster.
(12 x Clusters; 12 x 4 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With C – join into any 4 CH space

RND 4: CH 3/or Standing DC; work FPTR around SKIPPED DC of RND 2; work 1 DC into same 4 CH space; SKIP Cluster; CH 3. *Work 1 DC into next 4 CH space; work FPTR around SKIPPED DC of RND 2; work 1 DC into same 4 CH space; SKIP Cluster; CH 3.** Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; SL ST into FIRST DC.
(12 x FPTR; 24 DC; 12 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A – join into any 3 CH space

RND 5: CH 3/or Standing DC; work FPTR around SKIPPED Cluster; work 1 DC into same 3 CH space; work FPDC around next DC; work FPDC around next FPTR; work FPDC around next DC.
*Work 1 DC into next 3 CH space; work FPTR around SKIPPED Cluster; work 1 DC into same 3 CH space; work FPDC around next DC; work FPDC around next FPTR; work FPDC around next DC.**
Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; SL ST into FIRST DC worked.
(12 x FPTR; 24 x DC; 36 FPDC) = 72 STS in total.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into any stitch

RND 6: Work 1 SC into each ST all around; SL ST into FIRST SC worked.
(72 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With C – join into a SC worked into a FPTR

Note: you will be working a FPTR around the FPDC of RND 5 that was worked around a FPTR

RND 7: CH 3/or Standing DC; work 1 DC into next 2 STS; *work FPTR around FPDC of RND 5;
work 1 DC into next 5 STS.** Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; work FPTR around FPDC of RND 5; work 1 DC into next 2 STS; SL ST into FIRST DC worked.
(12 FPTR; 60 DC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B – join into any stitch

RND 8: Work 1 SC into each ST all around; SL ST into FIRST SC worked.
(72 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A – join into any SC AFTER a SC worked into a FPTR with a SLIP STITCH (SL ST)

RND 9: *Chain 11 – (work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next CH; work 1 HDC into next 3 CH; work 1 DC into next 2 CH; work 1 TR into next 3 CH) – SKIP next 3 SC; SL ST into next 3 SC.**
Repeat from * to ** 11 more times; omitting 1 SL ST on the last repeat; SL ST into FIRST SL ST.
(12 petals)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Special Stitch:
BPSC – back post single crochet

With C – join with a BPSC around any RND 7 FPTR.

RND 11: SL ST into next 6 CH space; CH 3 (counts as FIRST DC); work 6 DC into CH space.

RND 12: CH 3 (counts as FIRST DC); work 1 DC into next 2 DC; *work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into next DC; work 1 DC into next 6 DC.** Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; work [1 DC; 2 CH; 1 DC] into next DC; work 1 DC into last 3 DC; SL ST into FIRST DC worked.

RND 13: CH 3 (counts as FIRST DC); work 1 into next 3 DC; *SKIP 2 CH; CH 2; work 1 DC into next 8 DC.** Repeat from * to ** 10 more times; SKIP 2 CH; CH 2; work 1 DC into last 4 DC.**

Pattern Note:

Thread RND 9 petals thru RND 11 and RND 12 2 CH spaces – first front to back; then back to front.

With B – join into ANY 2 CH space.

RND 14: CH 3/or Standing DC; SL ST into TOP OF PETAL; work 1 DC into same 2 CH space;
work 1 DC into next DC; work 1 FPDC around next DC; work 1 DC into net 4 DC; work 1 FPDC around next DC; 1 DC into next DC.
*Work 1 DC into next 2 CH space; SL ST into TOP OF PETAL; work 1 DC into same 2 CH space;

With C – join into ANY DC BEFORE a SL ST – this is the SL ST worked into the TOP of a Petal.

RND 15: CH 3/or Standing DC; work Cluster into SL ST; work 1 DC into next 2 DC; work FPDC around next FPDC; work 1 DC into next 4 DC; work FPDC around next FPDC.

Overlay:

With B – join into any RND 12 CH 2 space with a SC; *CH 6; work 1 SC into 2nd D of RND 15 4 DC group; Picot; work 1 SC into next DC; CH 6; work 1 SC into next RND 12 CH 2 space.**
Repeat from * to ** 11 more times; omitting last SC; SL ST into first SC worked.
