Star Hearts Crochet Doily – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

• Yarn – Vinnis Colours Tori (50% Bamboo Viscose/ 50% cotton yarn)
  – (A) Aluminium 25 g (23 yards/21 meters)
  – (B) Raspberry 25g (23 yards/21 meters)
  – (C) Storm 10 g (9 yards / 8 meters)
  Weight – Chunky

• Hook – 6,00 mm (J) – I used Clover
• Scissors
• Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop

Gauge:
With yarn listed and 6,00 mm (J) hook final doily should measure 9,5 inches (24 cm) in diameter
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.

Finished Size:
Doily –From Picot Point to Picot Point 9,5 inches (24 cm) in diameter

Pattern Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.

Special Stitches:

Note – the ‘çlose’ 1 CH does not count as a CH – but is important, do not SKIP – this is to help with tension and that the first 2 rounds do NOT bubble!

RND 1 Clusters:
Starting Cluster – CH3; work 2DCtog (double crochet together); close with 1 CH.
3DCtog Cluster – work 3 double crochet together; close with 1 CH.

RND 2 Clusters:
Starting Cluster – CH3; work 4DCtog (double crochet together); close with 1 CH.
5DCtog Cluster – work 5 double crochet together; close with 1 CH.

Picot: CH 3; SL ST into 3^rd CH from hook.

Instructions:

With A make a magic ring OR CH 6; SL ST to form a ring.

RND 1: Work Starting Cluster; CH 3; (work Cluster; CH 3) x 5; SL ST into top of Starting Cluster.
(6 Clusters; 6 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With B join into any 3 CH space;

RND 2: Work Starting Cluster; CH 4; (work Cluster into next 3 CH space; CH 4) x 5; SL ST into top of Starting Cluster. (6 Clusters; 6 x 4 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A join into any 4 CH space;

RND 3: Work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; CH 2; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into 4 CH space; CH 2.
*Work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; CH 2; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into next 4 CH space; CH 2.** Repeat from * to ** 4 more times. SL ST into first SC worked. (6 x Petals)
Fasten off and weave ends.

With B – make 6 Hearts

Heart:

Make a magic circle OR CH 6; SL ST to form a ring.

Work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 2 DC; 1 TR; 1 DC; 1 SC; 1 DC; 1 TR; 2 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into ring; Picot; SL ST into first SC worked. (13 STS)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With C join into any Petal 2 CH space

Note: The Heart SC is the one worked in-between the 2 DC after and before a TR.
Tip: Catch the back-loop ONLY for the SC and Picot to make the heart stand out!

RND 4: Work 1 SC; CH 4; SL ST into next 2 CH space PLUS into Heart SC; CH 4.
*Work 1 SC into next Petal 2 CH space; CH 4; SL ST into next 2 CH space PLUS into Heart SC; CH 4.**
Repeat from * to ** 4 more times. SL ST into first SC worked. (You will have joined all 6 hearts)

RND 5: (CH 7; SL ST into Heart Picot; CH 7; SL ST into next SC) x 6; SL ST into first SL ST.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

With A – starting in first CH of 7 CH space AFTER a Picot SL ST.

RND 6: (Work 1 SC into each of next 7 CH; Picot; SKIP next SL ST; work 1 SC into each of next 7 CH; Picot; Skip next SL ST) x 6. SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends
