Lock Down Crochet Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies/Materials:
This is what I used – this is NOT necessary – use what you have! Mix it up too – use different kinds of yarn!
- Yarn – Nurturing Fibres Eco-Fushion Sport (cotton/Bamboo yarn); Weight – Sport (12 wpi)
Approx 500 g ( 10 x 50 g Balls / or 50 Mini Balls – 10 g) – approx 1370 yards/1250 meters. - Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) – I used Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
Gauge:
However gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
Finished Size:
My completed blanket measures – 30 x 30 inches (77 x 77 cm)

These instructions are for a 9 x 9 square blanket BUT can be adjusted to any size.
Edging & Border Pattern:
Border – Traditional Granny Stitch
Join yarn into one of the four 3 CH corner spaces;
RND 1: CH3 (counts as DC), work [2 DC, CH 2, 3 DC] into 3 CH space. *(CH1, work 3 DC into 1CH space) 3 times; CH 1; work 1 DC into next 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into join; work 1 DC into next 3 CH corner space.**
Repeat from * to ** 7 times (or as necessary); work (CH1, work 3 DC into 1CH space) 3 times;
#Work [3DC, CH 2, 3 DC] into 3 CH space. *(CH1, work 3 DC into 1CH space) 3 times; CH 1; work 1 DC into next 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into join; work 1 DC into next 3 CH corner space.**
Repeat from * to ** 7 times (or as necessary); work (CH1, work 3 DC into 1CH space) 3 times.##
Repeat from # to ## 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Optional – change yarn or continue with same yarn; if with same yarn; SL ST into next 2 DC and 3 CH space.
RND 2: CH3 (counts as DC), work [2 DC, CH 2, 3 DC] into 3 CH space. *(CH1, work 3 DC into 1CH space) 36 times (remember if you have more squares this will be different amount).
*Work [3DC, CH 2, 3 DC] into 3 CH space. *(CH1, work 3 DC into 1CH space) 36 times.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times.
Optional – change yarn or continue with same yarn; if with same yarn; SL ST into next 2 DC and 3 CH space.
Edging – Picot (CH 3; SL ST into 3rd CH from hook)
RND 3: Work Picot; SL ST into same corner space; (SL ST into next DC; Picot; SKIP DC; SL ST into next DC and 1 CH space) 37 times (remember if you have more squares this will be different amount); SL ST into next DC; Picot; SKIP DC; SL ST into next DC.
*SL ST into next 3 CH corner space; Picot; SL ST into same corner space; (SL ST into next DC; Picot; SKIP DC; SL ST into next DC and 1 CH space) 37 times; SL ST into next DC; Picot; SKIP DC; SL ST into next DC**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
