Floppy Monkey Crochet Doll – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – approx 50 grams of double knitting/light worsted yarn, in brown, beige  plus small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn, in white and black for eyes; plus small amount of green for heart; Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light.
    I used Elle (Saprotex) Family Knit Classic Double Knit
  • Hook – 4, 00 mm (G) – I used Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Fiberfill/Toy Stuffing

Abbreviations: US Terminology
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
TR – treble crochet
DECR – decrease over next two stitches – SC2tog – single crochet next two stitches together
FO – fasten off
MM – move marker (stitch marker)

Gauge:
Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect

Finished Size:
Approx 16 inches in length (40 cm).

Finishing:
Mark position of where legs will be sewn on. I placed my pins on rnd 49 on the DECR STS. Use photo as guide.
Sew legs in position.
Flatten opening and stitch underneath top SC stitches.

Hand and arm are made as one piece:
(Make Two)
Hand:
Follow instructions for foot until rnd 18 DO NOT work instructions for toe. Stuff lightly to form shape.
Change to brown yarn and continue as follows:
Arm:
Rnd 19- 40: SC in each ST around (12 SC). FO, leave a tail for sewing

Finishing:
With brown yarn sew fingers like in photo
Stuff arms just to give shape, DO NOT over-stuff.
Mark position of where arms will be sewn on.
I placed my pins on rnd 29/30. Use photo as guide.

With black yarn, embroider two French knots for nostrils, and sew a long stitch for mouth.

Green Heart:
Start with a magic ring. Work the following stitches into the magic ring: CH 3, 3 TC, 2 DC, 1 HDC, CH 1 and TC 1. (1 half of heart formed.)

Still working all stitches in the magic ring: CH 1, 1 HDC, 2 DC, 3 TC and CH 2, double crochet 2, join chain to magic ring with a SL ST.

Pull the magic ring tight to form heart.
