Orange Medley Crochet Throw Joining – Free Crochet Pattern

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim (cotton yarn) – 18 x 50 g balls – approx 2100/2340 yards (2000/2142 meters) (colors & balls needed listed in Pattern Notes); Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3 : Light.
  • Hook – 3, 50 mm (E)– I used Clover
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop

Gauge:
10 DC x 10 ROWS = 5 cm x 5 cm (2 inch x 2 inch)
However if you use a different yarn and/or hook sizing will differ.

Finished Size:
Squares: Approx 11 cm x 11 cm (4,2 inch)
Throw: Approx 98/100 cm x 98/100 cm (38½/39 inch)

Pattern Notes:
Colors:

  • A – Brick Red (3 x 50 g)
  • B – Burnt Orange (3 x 50 g)
  • C – Orange (5 x 50 g)
  • D – Sunshine (2 x 50 g)
  • E – Baby Yellow (2 x 50 g)
  • F – Natural (3 x 50 g)

Instructions:

Joining The Squares:

For the Solid Squares join with SL ST method.
For the Split Granny Squares join the solid sides with the SL ST method and the granny sides with the Granny Method.
For the Granny Squares join with the Granny Method.

SL ST Method:
Place squares next to each other and SL ST thru the BACK-LOOPS of the both squares DC stitches.

Granny Method:
Place squares next to each other and SL ST into both corners; (CH 3; SL ST into next 1 CH spaces) x 4; CH 3;
SL ST into corners.

How To Start:

Follow the colour diagram and start in the bottom RIGHT corner; joining square 1 to squares 2 & 3 – always working from right to left.
Follow the numbers – always starting at the right; then working down wards in a zig zag to the left.
