Using the same type of yarn throughout the project is recommended. The pattern suggests Velvet yarn, but you are not limited to this type of yarn. Any yarn can be used if you take into consideration your sizing for the project will differ and will LOOK differently.

Tension | Gauge

Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure a true success of this project!

Size

Velluto Kitty – 7 inches (18 cm) in length and 6 inches (15 cm) in width at the widest section of the body.
Nikkim Kitty – 3 inches (8 cm) in length and 3 inches (8 cm) in width at the widest section of the body

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your kitty will be a different size and will also most likely LOOK different.

Pattern Notes:

I have never worked with this type of yarn before and I did not want a design that was too challenging. The size of the hook was already something to get used to. My daughter suggested the kitty and I was only too willing to oblige.

I made another kitty in the cotton yarn to show the difference yarn can do to the pattern.
