Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Special Stitches:
How to Work 3 Double Crochet Together (3DCtog):
- Work 3 double crochet into space or single ST, holding the last loop of each double crochet on the hook.
- Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops on the hook.
HDC Starting Popcorn:
- CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 4 half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the 2nd CH of 2 CH.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the chain.
5 HDC Popcorn:
- Work 5 half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first half double crochet of the group.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.
How to Work Crochet Popcorn Stitch:
Starting Popcorn:
- CH 3 – this counts as your FIRST DC.
- Work 4 double crochet (dc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.
Popcorn:
- Work 5 double crochet (dc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.

How to Work Front-Post Double-Crochet (FPDC):
- Yarn over and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
- The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
- You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
- One front post double crochet (FPDC) is complete.

How to Work Front-Post Half Double-Crochet (FPHDC):
- Yarn over and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches or according to the instructions in the pattern.
- The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
- You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.
- One front post half double crochet (FPHDC) is complete.
Instructions:
With E and 4, 00 mm (G) join into 4th (center) DC of a RND 19 corner Shell.
Note: if you have a tight tension – CH 5 in-between petals and not CH 4.
SC stitches worked into the 3DCtog of each petal.
RND 21: CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work [2 TR; 3 CH; 3 TR] into SAME ST;
First Flower – [work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal].
*Next Flower – [work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal]. **
Repeat from * to ** 15 more times.
#Work [3 TR; 3 CH; 3 TR] into the 4th (center) DC of next RND 19 corner Shell;
First Flower – [work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal].
*Next Flower – [work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal; CH 4; work 1 SC into next petal]. ** Repeat from * to ** 15 more times. ##
Repeat from # to ## two more times; SL ST into 4th CH of 4 CH.
(34 x 4 CH spaces; 51 SC; 6 TR on each side)
Note: if you have a tight tension – work the 5 CH loosely.
RND 22: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each of 2 TR; work [ 2 DC; 3 CH 2; 2 DC] into next 3 CH corner space; work 1 DC into each of next 3 TR.
*CH 5; work 1 SC into next SC; CH 5; work 1 DC into each of next 2 SC. **
Repeat from * to ** 15 more times; CH 5; work 1 SC into next SC; CH 5; work 1 DC into each of next 3 TR.

*Work 1 DC into each CH of next 5 CH; SKIP next SC and work 1 TR into Petal SC; work 1 DC into each CH of next 5 CH; work 2DCtog over next 2 DC. **
Repeat from * to ** 15 more times; work 1 DC into each CH of next 5 CH; SKIP next SC and work 1 TR into Petal SC; work 1 DC into each CH of next 5 CH; work 1 DC into each of next 5 DC.
