Christmas Tree Crochet Money Pillow

This super cute Christmas Tree Crochet Money Pillow is a fun twist on the tooth fairy pillow adapted for Christmas.
Hang on the Christmas tree or place on someone special’s bed.

These little pillows can be filled/stuffed with scented leaves; potpourri; even rice. The front panel can be adorned with any Christmas themed cross-stitch decorations.

Christmas Tree Crochet Money Pillow

Supplies/Materials:

• Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim –
  approx 10/15 grams (26 yards) of Tomato;
  approx 10/15 grams (26 yards) of Sage;
  approx 10 grams (26 yards) of Avocado;
  and approx 5 grams (12 yards) Sunshine/Baby /yellow
• Hook – 3, 50 mm (E)
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
• Stuffing – Fiberfill; Potpourri or Rice
• Buttons – optional Christmas Themed.

Gauge:
Gauge/ Tension is not necessary for this project to be perfect.

Finished Size:
Approx 4 inch (10 cm) in length and width.

Abbreviations:  US Terminology

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

With Tomato/Sage/Avocado

Notes: Make 2 – one for front and one for back.

CH 16
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next 14 CH; (15 SC); TURN
ROW 2-16: Work 1 SC into each SC across (15 SC); TURN.
SL ST all around square. Fasten off and weave in ends.

For Pocket:

CH 11
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into next 14 CH; (10 SC); TURN
ROW 2-9: Work 1 SC into each SC across (10 SC); TURN.
SL ST all around square. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Cross-Stitch Christmas Tree/Gift onto front panel:
Tree – Avocado; Bark – Sage.
Gift – Baby Yellow/Sunshine; Ribbon – Tomato.
I embroidered French knots with Sunshine for ornaments of the tree.

Pocket Assembly:

With Tomato:
On the top row of the pocket – work 1 SC into 4 SC (ROW 9 – behind the SL ST stitches);
CH 10 – or as large a loop as required for button; SKIP 2 SC; work 1 SC into last 4 SC.
Cut enough yarn tail for sewing pocket onto the back panel.
Sew pocket into position; sew on button to correspond with button loop.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Pillow Assembly:

Sew front and back panels together – I used the back loops of the SL ST edging to sew them together.
Stuff with filling and sew closed. Optional – crochet a loop with remaining tail – 10 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
