Mini Santa Bag Crochet Ornament

Supplies/Materials:

  • Yarn – Vinnis Colours Nikkim –
    approx 10/15 grams (26 yards) of Tomato;
    and small amount of 5 grams (12 yards) Black
    small amount of Sunshine for the buckle.
  • Hook – 3, 50 mm (E)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker
  • String/Ribbon

Gauge:
Gauge/ Tension is not necessary for this project to be perfect.

Finished Size:
Approx 3 inch (8 cm) in length and 2 inch (5 cm) in width.

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

With Tomato

CH 11

RND 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each of next 8 CH; work 4 SC into last CH – continue in the round working into CH; work 1 SC into each of next 8 CH; work 3 SC into last CH; SL ST into first SC worked.

RND 2: CH 1 – work into the BACK-LOOPS for the next round ONLY – work 1 SC into first SC; work 1 SC into each SC all around. (24 SC)

Note: use a stitch marker to mark your first SC or last SC to help track your rounds. 

RND 3 – 7: Work 1 SC into each SC all around. (24 SC)

Do not cut Tomato yarn – join Black yarn.

RND 8 – 10: Work 1 SC into each SC all around. (24 SC)

Cut Black yarn and fasten off, continue with Tomato yarn.

Optional – embroider a buckle with the sunshine yarn – doing it now makes it easier than  when the bag is complete. 

RND 11 – 14: Work 1 SC into each SC all around. (24 SC)

RND 15: SL ST into next SC; CH 1; work 1 SC into same SC.
*CH 1; SKIP next SC; work 1 SC into next SC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around. (12 SC; 12 x 1 CH spaces)

RND 16: SL ST into next SC; CH 1; work 1 SC into each SC and 1 CH space all around.

Note: If you would like to hang the bag on a tree and use as an ornament – work a 10 CH loop (or longer as required) in a SL ST SC at the back of bag while working the next round.

RND 17: SL ST into next SC; CH 1; *work 3 SC into next SC; SL ST into next SC. ** Repeat from * to ** all around.
Fasten off and weave in ends. 

Weave in string or ribbon through the 1 CH spaces of RND 15.
