Difficulty Level/Skill Required: Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
Includes more involved stitch combinations like the popcorn stitch.
You will need to know basic stitches like the DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and links to tutorials are provided.

- Yarn – Charity Double Knit Pullskein (100g / 255 yards / 233 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. - Hook – 4.00 mm (G) – Clover

SPECIAL STITCHES:
4 DC Cluster: work 4 double crochet stitches together
[yarn over hook; insert yarn into stitch; yarn over hook; pull loop through;
yarn over hook; pull through 2 loops] x 4; yarn over hook; pull through all five loops
COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink
INSTRUCTIONS:
With D
FOUNDATION RING:
CH 6; join with a SL ST into the first CH to form a ring.
RND 1: CH 2 (this does NOT count as a stitch); work 12 HDC into ring; SL ST into top of first HDC made (12 HDC)
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); CH 1; *work [1 DC into next HDC; CH 1] x 11; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(12 DC; 12 x 1 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join A into any 1 CH space
4 DC Cluster: work 4 double crochet stitches together
[yarn over hook; insert yarn into stitch; yarn over hook; pull loop through;
yarn over hook; pull through 2 loops] x 4; yarn over hook; pull through all five loops
RND 3: CH 3 (this counts as 1 DC as is part of the FIRST 4 DC Cluster); *yarn over hook; insert yarn into 1 CH space; yarn over hook; pull loop through; yarn over hook; pull through 2 loops
Repeat from * 2 more times; yarn over hook; pull through 4 loops. CH 3;
[Work 4 DC Cluster into next 1 CH space; CH 3] x 11 times. SL ST into top of beginning Cluster.

Join B into ANY 3 CH space
4 DC Cluster: work 4 double crochet stitches together

Join A into any 2 CH CORNER space.
To make the following round easier – mark the following stitches – this is where your 3 DC granny cluster stitches will be worked into.
RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into same 2 CH space – first corner made; CH 1; *SKIP 2 DC; work 3 DC (granny cluster) into next DC; CH 1;
SKIP next DC and 2 CH; work 3 DC (granny cluster) into next DC; CH 1
[SKIP next 2 CH; 1 DC; and 2 CH; work 3 DC (granny cluster) into next DC; CH 1] x 2;
SKIP next 2 CH and 1 DC; work 3 DC (granny cluster) into next DC; CH 1
SKIP 2 DC; work [3 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into next 2 CH space; CH 1.
Repeat from * 2 more times.
*SKIP 2 DC; work 3 DC (granny cluster) into next DC; CH 1;

RND 9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into 2 CH space – first corner made.[CH 1; SKIP 3 DC; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space] x 6; CH 1.
*Work [3 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into next 3 CH space; [CH 1; SKIP 3 DC; work 3 DC into next 1 CH space] x 6; CH 1. Repeat from * 2 more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

Join D into any 2 CH space.
RND 10: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same 2 CH space; work 1 DC into each DC and 1 CH space of previous round until next 2 CH corner space;

RND 11: CH 1 (please note this does not count as a ST); work 1 SC into each DC of previous round – work 3 SC into each corner; SL ST into first SC worked.

Final Stitch Count = 35 SC on each side PLUS 3 SC in each corner
