Dragonfly Crochet Granny Square
Difficulty Level/Skill Required: Easy – Intermediate
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
Includes more involved stitch combinations like the popcorn stitch.
You will need to know basic stitches like the DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and links to tutorials are provided.

- Yarn – Charity Double Knit Pullskein (100g / 255 yards / 233 meters)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light. - Hook – 4.00 mm (G) – Clover
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

COLORS: A – aran; B – blue; C – grey; D – pink
INSTRUCTIONS:
With C
CH 6; SL ST into first CH to form a ring
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 15 DC into ring (16 DC);
SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join D into any DC.
RND 2: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; CH 2; 2 DC] into SAME ST;
work 1 DC into next 3 DC.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next DC; work 1 DC into next 3 DC.
Repeat from * two more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
(28 DC; 4 x 2 CH corner spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join A into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner;
CH 6; SKIP next 7 DC.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next 2 CH corner space; CH 6; SKIP next 7 DC.
Repeat from * two more times; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.

RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into next DC; work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into 2 CH corner;

Join A into any 2 CH corner space.
RND 9: CH1; work [2 SC; 2 CH; 2 SC] into same 2 CH space; work 1 SC into each DC and 1 CH space of previous round until next 2 CH corner space;
Work [2 SC; 2 CH; 2 SC] into 2 CH corner space;
work 1 SC into each DC and 1 CH space of previous round until next 2 CH corner space.] x 3;
SL ST into 1st SC made.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B into FIRST SC of a round (the first SC at the START of a round – just after a corner)
Note: due to sizing I had to make this round in SC – but it can be done in HDC or DC.
Use the stitch to get your square to your size!
RND 10: CH1; work 1 SC into same ST; work 1 SC into each SC until corner;
CH 3; SKIP CORNER SPACE; work 1 SC into next SC.
*Work 1 SC into each SC until corner; CH 3; SKIP CORNER SPACE; work 1 SC into next SC.
Repeat from * two more times.
SL ST into 1st SC made.
(35 SC on each side)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join C into any 3 CH corner space or SC
RND 11: CH 1 (please note this does not count as a ST); work 1 SC into each SC of previous round – work 3 SC into each corner 3 CH space; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Final Stitch Count = 35 SC on each side PLUS 3 SC in each corner

I have a question? Should in r6 after the TR, DC in nxt 6. Should the *be 2dc, ch2, f2f in ch2 crnr so
Or is it supposed to be as written the *1dc,ch2,2dc? And repeat that
In picture the count seems like ot lines up as the 2dc,ch2,2dc in corner sp
