
Yuletide Star Square Croceht Table Runner
This Yuletide Star Square Crochet Table Runner will bring a festive feel to any holiday table setting.
Designed to fit candles or any other feature for the center circles.

Yuletide Star Square Croceht Table Runner
Skill Level – Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Concentration required.
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Vinnis Colours – Nikkim 100% cotton yarn
Cotton/DK – or any yarn! Completely your choice!!
Leftover can be used too!
My yarn colors:
Blue-Red – 20/30 g
Ruby Grapefruit – 20/30 g
Natural – 20/30 g
Sage – 20/30 g
Hooks & Notions:
Hook 3. 50 mm (E)
Yarn needle
Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
Size:
- square – approx 12 cm x 12 cm (5 inches);
- table runner – approx 46 cm (18 inches) in length and 24 cm (9,5 inches)

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:
Square: make 8 – or more depending on the length of runner you would like.
With color (natural)
CH 8 and SL ST to form a ring OR make a magic circle
Special Stitch: Starting Cluster – CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2DCtog (2 double crochet stitches) into same space
Special Stitch: Cluster – 3DCtog – work 3 double crochet stitches together into space
RND 1: work Starting Cluster; CH 2; work [Cluster; CH 2] x 7; SL ST into top of Staring Cluster.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Change color – blue/red or ruby grapefruit – I did four of each color
Special Stitch: Picot – CH 3; SL ST into 3rd CH from hook
RND 2: join into any 2 CH space;
work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; Picot; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into 2 CH space; work 1 SC into next 2 CH space.
*Work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; Picot; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into next 2 CH space; work 1 SC into next 2 CH space**
Repeat from *to** 2 more times. SL ST into first SC worked.
(4 x petals; 4 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Change color – sage
Special Stitch: Picot – CH 3; SL ST into 3rd CH from hook
RND 3: join into any of the 4 single SC worked;
work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; Picot; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into SC; CH 3; work 1 SC into next Picot; CH 3.
*Work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; Picot; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC] into SC; CH 3; work 1 SC into next Picot; CH 3.**
Repeat from *to** 2 more times. SL ST into first SC worked.
(4 x petals; 4 SC; 8 x 3 CH spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Change color – natural
RND 4: join into any SC worked into a Picot;
CH 4 (counts as 1 TR); work [2 TR; 2 CH; 3 TR] into same SC; CH 4;
work 1 SC into next Picot; CH 4.
*Work [3 TR; 2 CH; 3 TR] into next SC; CH 4; work 1 SC into next Picot; CH 4.**
Repeat from *to** 2 more times. SL ST into 4th of 4 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Change color – sage
THIS IS ALSO THE JOINING ROUND – you will complete instructions on one square only as below or if you only want to make the squares and NOT join.
RND 5: join into any 2 CH corner space;
work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into corner space; CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] twice.
*Work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into next corner space; CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] twice.**
Repeat from *to** 2 more times. SL ST into first SC worked.

For the other squares – this is how you will join on the 5th round:
When you joining you simply SL ST into the OPPOSITE SC of the previous square:


First Border Round:
With color – natural join into FIRST corner of a SHORT SIDE (width not length)
Work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into corner space; CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] 3 times;
work 1 SC into next corner space; CH 4; work 1 SC into next corner space;
CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] 3 times.
LONG SIDE (length)
Work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC] into next corner space; CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] 3 times;
work 1 SC into next corner space; CH 4; work 1 SC into next corner space;
CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] 3 times;
work 1 SC into next corner space; CH 4; work 1 SC into next corner space;
CH 4; work [1 SC into next 4 CH space; CH 4] 3 times.

Center Circle: – repeat instructions for each center gap (I did 3 times)
With blue/red or Ruby Grapefruit
join with a SC into ANY corner 2 CH space; (CH 4; work 1 SC into next 2 CH corner space) x 3 times;
CH 4; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Final (second) Border Round:
With color – blue/red or ruby grapefruit
join into ANY 2 CH corner space – for EACH corner you will work [1 SC; 2 CH; 1 SC]
into EACH 4 CH SPACE – you will work [1 SC; 1 HDC; 1 DC; Picot; 1 DC; 1 HDC; 1 SC].
SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
