
Heart and Kisses Crochet Square
This Heart and Kisses Crochet Square was designed in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Use it on its own for a pillow or make several for a throw or blanket.

Adventurous Beginner to Easy
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.
You will need to know basic stitches like SC (single crochet) and DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and provided in the instructions.
Materials
- Hook – 4, 00 mm (G)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Yarn:
MoYa 100% Organic Cotton DK Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.
My Colors:
A – Stone
B – Silver
C – Cherry
D – Charcoal
Yarn Substitute:
Using the same type of yarn throughout the project is recommended. The pattern suggests DK yarn (Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light Worsted), but you are not limited to this type of yarn. Any yarn can be used if you take into consideration your sizing for the project will differ.
Tension | Gauge
Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure a true success of this project!
Size
Square Approx. 15 x 15 cm (6 x 6 inches)
Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your square will be a different size!

SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)

SPECIAL STITCH:

INSTRUCTIONS:
With Color A – CH 6; SL ST to form a ring or/make a magic circle.
RND 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 2 DC into ring;
[CH 3; work 3 DC into ring] x 3 times; CH 3; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
For this next round work into back-loops only.
Join color B with a 3 CH into any first DC of a 3 DC group – this 3 CH counts as your FIRST DC.
RND 2: work 1 DC into next 2 DC; *CH 3; work 1 DC into next 3 DC. **
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; CH 3; SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join color C with a CH 4 into any 3 CH space of RND 1 – this counts as your FIRST TR.
RND 3: work [2 TR; 2 CH; 3 TR] into same space; *CH 5; work [3 TR; 2 CH; 3 TR] into next CH space of RND 1. **
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; CH 5; SL ST into 4th CH of 4 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join color D into any 2 CH space between TR with a SC – this counts as your FIRST SC.
RND 4: *CH 3; work 2 DC into next 5 CH space; work 1 DC into center DC of RND 2 3DC group;
work 2 DC into same 5 CH space; CH 3; work 1 SC into next 2 CH space.**
Repeat from * to ** 3 more times; omitting the LAST SC; CH 3; SL ST into first SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Join color A into ANY DC worked into RND 2.
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [2 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into same DC; CH 1;
work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; CH 1.
*Work [3 DC; 2 CH; 3 DC] into next RND 2 DC; CH 1;
work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; CH 1; work 3 DC into next 3 CH space; CH 1.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
For this next round work into back-loops only.
Join color B into ANY 2 CH corner space.
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work [1 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into same space; work 1 DC into next 3 DC; (CH 1; SKIP 1 CH space; work 1 DC into next 3 DC) 3 times.
*Work [2 DC; 2 CH; 2 DC] into next 2 CH corner space; work 1 DC into next 3 DC;
(CH 1; SKIP 1 CH space; work 1 DC into next 3 DC) 3 times.**
Repeat from * to ** 2 more times. SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
For this next round work into back-loops only.
Join color C into ANY 2 CH corner space with a SC – this counts as your FIRST SC.
RND 7: CH 2; work 1 SC into same corner; work 1 SC into next 2 DC;
(work TR cross -stitch into RND 5 front-loops; SKIP next 3 DC; work 1 SC into 1 CH space) 3 times; work TR cross-stitch into RND 5 front-loops; work 1 SC into next 2 DC.
*Work [1 SC; CH 2; 1 SC] into next 2 CH corner; work 1 SC into next 2 DC;
(work TR cross -stitch into RND 5 front-loops; SKIP next 3 DC; work 1 SC into 1 CH space) 3 times; work TR cross-stitch into RND 5 front-loops; work 1 SC into next 2 DC.** Repeat from * to ** 2 more times; SL ST into FIRST SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join color D into ANY 2 CH corner space.
