Santa Bottle Crochet Jacket – Plus bonus Glass Cover Crochet Hat
SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Yarn: Weight – DK (11 wpi) 4 : Medium
Color – 3 colors Red; Black and White
Hook: 4.00 mm or hook size to get Jacket to fit around bottle of choice.
Notes:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect
Size: my jacket is approx 8 inches in length and approx 9 inches in width.

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

INSTRUCTIONS:
Jacket:
With White yarn
CH approx the amount to fit around bottle – my CH is 36
ROW 1: work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; TURN
ROW 2- 4: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end; TURN
With red yarn;
ROW 5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end; TURN
ROW 6-9: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each St until end; TURN
With black yarn:
ROW 10: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end; TURN
ROW 11-13: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each St until end; TURN
With red yarn;
ROW 14: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end; TURN
ROW 15-19: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each St until end; TURN
With white yarn:
NOTE: for this row work into BACK LOOPS ONLY
ROW 20: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end; TURN
ROW 21-23: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end; TURN
ROW 24: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 SC into each ST until LAST 2 STS; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 DC into last ST; TURN
ROW 25: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into SAME ST; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 1 SC into each ST until LAST 2 STS; work 1 HDC into next ST; work 2 DC into LAST ST.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Hat:
With yarn CH 42; SL ST into first CH to form a ring
RND 1: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each CH all around (42 SC); SL ST into first SC.
RND 2-3: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until end of round (42 SC); SL ST into first SC.
Note – Round 3 is worked into the back-loops only!
RND 4: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 4 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 5 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (36 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
RND 5: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 3 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 4 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (30 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
RND 6: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 2 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 3 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (24 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
RND 7: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); then work 1 DC into next 1 STS; DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next 2 STS; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (18 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
RND 8: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); DC2tog.
*Work 1 DC into next ST; DC2tog. Repeat from * until end of round (12 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
The top:
RND 9-10: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC); work 1 DC into each ST until end of round (12 DC); SL ST into 3rd of 3 CH.
RND 11: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST (12 SC); SL ST into first SC.
RND 12: CH 1; then work SC2tog x 6 times (6 SC); SL ST into first ST.
Fasten off, then sew the opening at the top close and weave in ends.
Make a pom pom and then sew it onto the tip of the hat.
USE A BELL OR BUCKLE OR BUTTON OR RIBBON TO TIE YOUR JACKET AROUND YOUR BOTTLE!
