Oceania Crochet Throw – designed by Joanita Theron

A blue-variegated nine square crochet throw.

Difficulty Level | Skills Required

Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate
Basic stitches in simple variations, simple repeats, color changes, shaping and finishing.

You will need to know basic stitches like SC (single crochet) and DC (double crochet).
Special stitches explained and provided in the instructions.

Materials

  • Hook – 3, 25 mm
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Yarn:

MoYa 100% Cotton Double Knit (50 grams/135 meters/148 yards)
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.

Approx 500 grams / 1350 meters / 1480 yards (10 balls)

  • 2 x Natural
  • 2 x Pebble
  • 2 x Skyfall
  • 2 x Coaldust
  • 2 x Seashore

Yarn Substitute:
Using the same type of yarn throughout the project is recommended. The pattern suggests DK yarn, but you are not limited to this type of yarn. Any yarn can be used if you take into consideration your sizing for the project will differ.

Tension | Gauge

Gauge is NOT necessary for this project to be perfect.
However COUNTING your stitches will ensure a true success of this project!

Size

Squares – 23 cm x 23 cm (approx. 9 inches) for each block.
Final Blanket Size including border – Approx. 32 x 32 inches.

Remember – if you use/choose a different yarn weight/hook size your blanket will be a different size!

Helpful Tips | Hints

  • With a project of this size, it is recommended to weave in ends as you go.
  • It is important to count the stitches to ensure success.
  • Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the process.
