Special Crochet Stitches:
These Special Crochet Stitches are used throughout my patterns and should be used in conjunction with my instructions.
How to Make a Magic Circle/Ring (double):
- Wrap the yarn around the fingers of your left hand twice – to create two loops. The tail should be in the back on the right side, while the working yarn should be in the front towards your palm.
- Pull up a loop.Slide your crochet hook under the two loops of your double ring closest to your fingertips. Grab onto the working end of the yarn and pull it back through to the right, creating a loop on the hook.
- Make a starting chain.Grab onto the working end of the yarn and draw it through the loop currently on your hook, creating a single chain stitch.
- Pull the ring from your index finger.
- Crochetas many stitches as needed – according to your pattern’s instructions.
- Pull on the tail yarn lightly – THEN pull on the THE loop that moved until hole is closed; THEN pull-on tail yarn again to completely close the hole.
How to Work 3 Double Crochet Together (3DCtog):
- Work 3 double crochet into space or single ST, holding the last loop of each double crochet on the hook.
- Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops on the hook.
HDC Starting Popcorn:
- CH 2 (counts as 1 HDC); work 4 half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the 2nd CH of 2 CH.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the chain.
5 HDC Popcorn:
- Work 5 half double crochet (hdc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first half double crochet of the group.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.
How to Work Crochet Popcorn Stitch:
Starting Popcorn:
- CH 3 – this counts as your FIRST DC.
- Work 4 double crochet (dc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.
Popcorn:
- Work 5 double crochet (dc) stitches in the same stitch.
- Drop the loop from your hook.
- Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of the group.
- Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the stitch.

How to Work Front-Post Double-Crochet (FPDC):
- Yarn over and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
- The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
- You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
- One front post double crochet (FPDC) is complete.

How to Work Back Post Double Crochet Stitch:
- Yarn over and insert your hook from back to front between the posts of the first and second double crochet in the row below, and then from front to back again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
- The hook should now be positioned horizontally in front of the double crochet that you’re working around.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
- You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
- You’ve made one complete back post double crochet (BP dc).

How to Work Front-Post Half Double-Crochet (FPHDC):
- Yarn over and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches or according to the instructions in the pattern.
- The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
- You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.
- One front post half double crochet (FPHDC) is complete.
How to Work Front-Post Treble-Crochet (FPTR):
- Yarn over twice and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row/round below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches or according to the instructions in the pattern.
- The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the stitch that you’re working around.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
- You now have 4 loops on the hook.
- [Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook] x 3 times.
- One front post treble crochet (FPTR) is complete.

How to Work a Long Treble:
- Yarn over twice and insert your hook into stitch indicated in the pattern instructions.
- Yarn over and draw loop through.
- Pull loop up to be level with your current round, keep tension loose – 4 loops on hook.
(Note – if you pull your loop too tightly it will wrap your stiches below.)
- Complete stitch – [Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook] x 3 times.
- One Long Treble is complete.
How to Work The V-Stitch:
- Work 1 double crochet stitch, chain 1 stitch, and work another double crochet stitch into the same space/stitch.
Exp – Work [1 DC; 1 CH; 1 DC] into ST.

How to Work Crochet Puff Stitch:
- Yarn over; insert into space/stitch.
- Yarn over; pull loop through (3 loops on hook).
- Yarn over; insert into SAME space/stitch.
- Yarn over; pull loop through (5 loops on hook).
- Yarn over; insert into SAME space/stitch.
- Yarn over; pull loop through (7 loop on hook).
- Yarn over; pull yarn through ALL 7 loops on the hook.
- Chain 1 to CLOSE Puff Stitch.

How to Work 3 Double Crochet Bobble Cluster Stitch (3DC Bobble Cluster):
- Yarn over and insert hook from front to back into stitch.
- *Yarn over and draw through stitch. (3 loops)
- Yarn over, draw through first two loops. (2 loops)
- Yarn over and insert hook into SAME stitch.**
- Repeat instructions from * to ** twice. (4 loops)
- Yarn over and draw through all 4 loop on the hook.
- One 3 Double Crochet Cluster Bobble Stitch complete.

How to Work Crossed Double Stitch:
For the crossed double crochet stitch (abbreviated crossed dc), you work two double crochet stitches on an angle. When you make a crossed double crochet stitch, you end up with a pattern that looks like an X.
- Work 1 double crochet stitch into the next stitch.
- Work 1 double crochet stitch into the SKIPPED stitch.
