Scrapalicious Blanket Part Four|Creative Crochet Workshop

PART FOUR:

A Border with some Popcorn
SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
SIZE:
Final Blanket Approx – 60 cm x 60 cm
MATERIALS:
Yarns:
Small amounts of double knitting/light worsted yarn in various colors or
various colors in any yarn available
Approx 25 grams of a Main Color – I used Cream

IMPORTANT NOTE – USE THE SAME TYPE OF YARN THROUGH OUT THE PROJECT!
Don’t stress – the size will just differ if different types are used 🙂

Hooks & Notions:
Size 3.50 Hook / or 4.00 Hook ( I used a 3.50 Hook)
Yarn Needle
GAUGE:
Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect as long as all the blocks are approx. the same size
I use US Crochet stitch terminology

INSTRUCTIONS:

The Border

Join color yarn (pink) into first SC after a corner, with a 3CH (counts as 1 DC)
Rnd 1: Work 1 DC into each ST, work 1 DC, 2 CH, 1 DC into each corner. SL ST into top of 3CH.
change color
Rnd 2: CH 3, work 1 DC into each ST, work 1 DC, 2 CH, 1 DC into each corner. SL ST into top of 3CH.
change color
Rnd 3: CH 3, work 1 DC into each ST, work 1 DC, 2 CH, 1 DC into each corner. SL ST into top of 3CH.
change color to main yarn
Rnd 4: CH1, work 1 SC into same ST, work 1 SC into each ST, work 1 SC, 2 CH, 1 SC into each corner. SL ST into first SC
change color
Special Stitch:
Popcorn: PC – made of 5 DC
Make 5 DC’s into the same stitch. Remove hook from the last DC and insert it into the first DC of the five. Grab the loop of the last DC and pull it through the top of the first DC
Rnd 5: CH1, work 1 PC, work 1 SC into next 4 STITCHES. *Work 1 PC, work 1 SC into next 4 STITCHES. Repeat from * all around, working 1 SC, 2 CH, 1 SC into each corner.
change color to main yarn
Rnd 6: Work  1 DC, CH 1, 1 DC, into top of ST of PC, work 1 HDC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 2 SC. *Work 1 HDC into next SC, work 1 DC, 1 CH, 1 DC into top of PC, work 1 HDC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around. Working 3 SC into each corner.
Fasten off and weave in all ends

  2. I love this blanket and the scrapalicious carnival cushion. I’m combining squares from both of them to make a more rectangular blanket – I’ll post pics when I’m done! Lovely patterns and great clear instructions, thank you.

  6. Love how it looks in the end. Sadly, i thing mine will not look as pretty, since I mixed too many different yarns…But I'm guessing my daughter will still love it anyway, I plan to give it to her as soon as it's finished! I'm hoping you'll post a new challenge for July!
