My Crochet Dollhouse Playbook Part Two

PATTERN SUPPORT

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side

Instructions:

The Frontyard

Yarns: scraps of assorted colors (from 2 yards to 50 yards) – pink, blue, green, yellow, purple, and white.

Hooks & Notions:

  • Size 3.50 mm Hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Marker
  • Large Press Button
  • 1 x Small Button
  • 6 x Large Buttons
  • 8 x 12 cm Ribbons (assorted) – green, white, blue and pink
  • Needle and Thread

PROJECT NOTES:

The house forms a pocket – this is where the doll is stored when the book is not in play!

The House:

With pink yarn, CH31

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from Hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (30 SC), turn.
Row 2 – 14: CH1, work 1 SC into next 10 SC (10 SC) turn. Fasten off after the last row and weave in ends.

Join yarn on other side and repeat row 2.

With pink yarn, CH31

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from Hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (30 SC), turn.
Row 2 – 14: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (30 SC) turn. Fasten after the last row and weave in ends.

Join the two pieces together with the Whipstitch method.

The Roof:

With purple yarn, join into the first back loop of the top row, the front should be facing towards you.

Row 1: Work 1 SC into each back loop until end. (30 SC)
Row 2: working into both loops – SC2tog, 1 SC into each ST until last 2 STS, SC2tog (28 SC)
Row 3: SC2tog – 1 SC into back loop of each ST until last 2 STS, SC2tog (26 SC)

Continue Row 2 and Row 3 until only 4 STS are left.

SC2tog twice, DO NOT TURN, CH 1 and fasten off and weave in ends.

Turn the house upside down, with the front still facing towards you.

Row 1: Join any color yarn into the first front loop of the first row (30 SC) of the roof with a SL ST, work 1 SC into same loop; work [1HDC, 1 DC] into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop; work [1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop.

*Work a SL ST and 1 SC into next loop; work [1HDC, 1 DC] into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop; work [1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop. ** Repeat from * to ** 4 more times.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Row 2: Join any color yarn into the first front loop with a SL ST, work 1 SC into same loop; work [1 DC, 1 TR] into next loop; work [1 TR, 1 DC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop.

*SL ST and work 1 SC into next loop; work [1 DC, 1 TR] into next loop; work [1 TR, 1 DC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop** Repeat from * to ** 4 more times.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Row 3: Join any color yarn into the first front loop with a SL ST, work 1DC into same loop, work 1 DC and a SL ST into next loop.

*SL ST and work 1 SC into next loop; work [1 HDC, 1 DC] into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop; work [1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop. ** Repeat from * to ** 3 more times.

Work a SL ST and 1 DC into next loop, work 1 DC and a SL ST into last loop.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Row 4: Join any color yarn into the first front loop with a SL ST, work 1SC into same loop; work [1 HDC, 1 DC] into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop, work [1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop.

*Work a SL ST and 1 SC into next loop; work [1 HDC, 1 DC] into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop; work [1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop. **

Row 6: Join any color yarn into the first front loop with a SL ST, work 1DC into same loop,

Repeat from * to ** 1 more time; work 1 DC and a SL ST into last loop.

Row 7: Join any color yarn into the first front loop with a SL ST, work 1DC into same loop; work a SL ST and 1 SC into next loop; work [1 HDC, 1 DC] into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop; work 2 TR into next loop; work [1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop; work 1 SC and a SL ST into next loop; work 1 DC and a SL ST into last loop.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Row 8: Join any color yarn into the first front loop with a SL ST;
work [1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 TR] into next loop;
work [1 TR, 1 DC, 1 HDC] into next loop;
work a SL ST into last loop.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join any color yarn into one bottom corner of the house
and SL ST all house and roof.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

The Door:

With purple yarn join into the first row of the left side (see photo) with a SC, work 1 SC into each row (13 SC), turn.

Row 2-10: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST (13 SC), turn.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Add a press button onto the inside of the door (see photo) and a small button onto the outside.

The Windows (Make 2):

With blue yarn make a magic circle/ or CH 6 and SL ST into first CH to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Work 6 SC into circle, mark last SC with a Stitch Marker, continue in the round.
Rnd 2: work 2 SC into each SC (12 SC), move marker.
Rnd 3: work 2 SC into first SC, work 1 SC into next SC. * Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * until end (18 SC), move marker.
Rnd 4: work 2 SC into first SC, work 1 SC into next 2 SC.
* Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 2 SC.
Repeat from * until end (24 SC).
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join white yarn and SL ST all around circle,
thread a cross into the center of the window.
Sew windows onto the house.

The Grass:

With green yarn CH 51.

Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from Hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (50 SC), turn.
Row 2-5: CH1, work 1 SC into each SC until end (50 SC), turn.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join any color yarn and SL ST all around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sew 6 Flowers (or any) buttons onto grass.

If you do not want to use Flower Buttons here is a pattern for some Crochet Flowers 🙂

Optional Small Flower:

With any color yarn: CH 6 and SL ST to form a ring.
Repeat from * to ** 4 times more. 5 Petals made.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

The Sun:

With yellow yarn, CH2; work 2 SC into 2nd CH from Hook.

Row 1: CH1, work 2 SC into each SC (4 SC), turn.
Row 2: CH1, work 1 SC into each SC (4 SC), turn.
Row 3: CH1, work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 2 SC, work 2 SC into last ST (6 SC), turn.
Row 4: CH1, work 1 SC into each SC (6 SC), turn.
Row 5: CH1, work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 4 SC, work 2 SC into last ST (8 SC), turn.
Row 6: CH1, work 1 SC into each SC (8 SC), turn.
Row 7: CH1, work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 6 SC, work 2 SC into last ST (10SC), turn.
Row 8: CH1, work 1 SC into each SC (10 SC), turn.
Row 9: CH1, work 2 SC into next ST, work 1 SC into next 8 SC, work 2 SC into last ST (12SC), turn.
Row 10: CH1, work 1 SC into each SC (12 SC), continue working in the round – work 1 SC into each row and foundation STS and each row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sew 12cm ribbons onto the back of the sun (see photo)

Whipstitch (sew) all the pieces into place.

    This is what happens when you have a 4 year old running around. I have fixed the pattern. I hope it is more understandable now. I have gone over the whole pattern again, hopefully all errors are fixed!

  3. 3rd 3 leaves me with 4 sts unworked. Can you tell me please how many dc, hdc, & sc I should have? I think I am missing a repeat somewhere. TIA
