I use US Crochet stitch terminology

Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – double crochet
TR – treble crochet
SL ST – slip stitch
SPECIAL STITCH – Puff Stitch (PS)
– Yarn over hook;
*insert hook into stitch;
yarn over hook;
pull up a loop to the same height as a HDC; repeat from * 3 times (7 loops on hook);
yarn over and pull through all 7 loop on hook.

Size of Squares: 13 cm / 5 inches
Please note this all depends on your hook, yarn and crochet tension
Tension/Gauge is not necessary to be perfect for this project – your squares must just be the same(equal) in size to assemble bag.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cornered Diamonds: (Make 4)

FOUNDATION RING:
Using your first color make a magic ring.
RND 1: CH 4(counts as 1 TR);
[work 5 DC into ring, work 1 TR into ring] repeat 3 times;
work 5 DC into ring, join with a SL ST into the top of the beginning CH
Fasten off and weave in ends. (24 STS)
RND 2: Join new color into the top of any TR;
CH1 and work 1 SC into same ST;
*SKIP 2 STS; work (3 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC) into next ST;
SKIP next ST, work 1 SC into next ST. Repeat from * twice more;
SKIP 2 STS; work (3 DC, 3 CH, 3 DC) into next ST;
SKIP next ST, join with a SL ST into first SC made.
Fasten off and weave in ends. (28 STS and 4 x 3CH spaces)

RND 3: Join new color into the top of any SC with a SL ST;
*SKIP 3 STS, work (2 TR, 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC, 2 TR) into next 3 CH space;
SKIP 3 STS, work 1 SL ST into next SC. Repeat from * twice more.
SKIP 3 STS, work (2 TR, 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC, 2 TR) into next 3 CH space;
SKIP 3 STS, join with a SL ST into the beginning SL ST.
Fasten off and weave in ends. (40 STS, 4 x SL ST’s, and 4 x 2 CH spaces)
