This is completely optional, and it can be worked in coordinated colors
Materials
- Hook – 3, 50 mm (E) & 4, 00 mm (G)
- Stitch Marker
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
- Fiberfill/toy stuffing
Yarn:
Elle (Saprotex) Pullskein Double Knit – Acrylic
Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light.
Yarn Substitute:
Using the same type of yarn throughout the project is recommended. The pattern suggests DK yarn (Weight – DK (11 wpi) 3: Light Worsted), but you are not limited to this type of yarn. Any yarn can be used if you take into consideration your sizing for the project will differ.
Tension | Gauge
Not necessary for this project to be perfect.
However if you use a different yarn and/or hook sizing will differ.
Using the SAME hook and yarn will ensure your project is a success.
Size
Between 20 – 25 cm (8 – 10 inches) in length.

INSTRUCTIONS:
BASE:
With 4, 00 mm hook – make a magic circle or ch 4 and SL ST into first CH to form a ring.
This part is worked in continuous rounds, a stitch marker is recommended to help you keep track of your rounds.
RND 1: CH 1, work 6 SC into ring
RND 2: Work 2 SC into each SC of previous round, (12 SC)
RND 3: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * all around ( 18 SC)
RND 4: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around (24 SC)
RND 5: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 3 SC. Repeat from * all around (30 SC)
RND 6: For this round only work into back-loops – Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (30 SC)
RND 7: Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (30 SC)
RND 8: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 4 SC. Repeat from * all around (36 SC)
RND 9-10: Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (36 SC)
RND 11: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 5 SC. Repeat from *all around (42 SC)
RND 12-13: Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (42 SC)
RND 14: For this round only work into front-loops – Work 4 SC into each loop all around.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
TOP:
With 4, 00 mm hook – make a magic circle or ch 4 and SL ST into first CH to form a ring.

RND 1: CH 1, work 6 SC into ring
RND 2: Work 2 SC into each SC of previous round, (12 SC)
RND 3 – 15: Work 1 SC into each SC all around (12 SC)
RND 16: For this round only work into back-loops – *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * all around ( 18 SC)
RND 17: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around (24 SC)
RND 18: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 3 SC. Repeat from * all around (30 SC)
RND 19: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 4 SC. Repeat from * all around (36 SC)
RND 20: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 5 SC. Repeat from *all around (42 SC)
RND 21: Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (42 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing (approx 20/30 cm)
ASSEMBLE:
STEP ONE: Stuff pole firmly with fiberfill/toy stuff (being careful not to over-stuff)
STEP TWO: Using leftover tail sew the top onto the base – using the inside loops of the base as guide.
STEP THREE: Before closing completely stuff base with fiberfill/toy-stuff. Shape base and cone. Sew close and weave in ends.
DONUT:
With 3, 50 mm hook
CH 18 SL ST to first CH to form a ring
This part is worked in continuous rounds, a stitch marker is recommended to help you keep track of your rounds.
RND 1: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around (24 SC)
RND 2: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 3 SC. Repeat from * all around (30 SC) – NOTE: at this point check that the hole goes over the pole – if your tension is too tight – switch to the 4, 00 mm hook!
RND 3: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 4 SC. Repeat from * all around (36 SC)
RND 4: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 5 SC. Repeat from *all around (42 SC)
RND 5: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 6 SC. Repeat from *all around (48 SC)
RND 6: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 7 SC. Repeat from *all around (54 SC)
RND 7: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 8 SC. Repeat from *all around (60 SC)

DONUT – SMALL:
With 3, 50 mm hook

RND 3: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 4 SC. Repeat from * all around (36 SC)
RND 4: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 5 SC. Repeat from *all around (42 SC)

**This is optional – you can glue the icing over the donut if you prefer – this is dependent who this item is made for. For toddlers and babies rather sew the icing on.
CREAM:
With double knitting / light worsted (No 3) yarn) yarn and 3, 50 mm hook
CH 18 SL ST to first CH to form a ring
This part is worked in continuous rounds, a stitch marker is recommended to help you keep track of your rounds.
RND 1: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around (24 SC)
RND 2: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next 3 SC. Repeat from * all around (30 SC) – NOTE: at this point check that the hole goes over the pole of part two – if your tension is too tight – switch to the 4, 00 mm hook!
RND 3: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 4 SC. Repeat from * all around (36 SC)
RND 4: *Work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 5 SC. Repeat from *all around (42 SC)
RND 5-6: Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (42 SC)
RND 7: Work into back-loops only – Work 1 SC into each SC of previous round (42 SC)
For the next 4 rounds work into back-loops only –
RND 8: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 5 SC. Repeat from, * all around (36 SC)
RND 9: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 4 SC. Repeat from, * all around (30 SC)
RND 10: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 3 SC. Repeat from, * all around (24 SC)
RND 11: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from, * all around (18 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
Sew the inside together, stuffing the donut with fiberfill/toy-stuffing as you work.
Shape donut as you stuff 🙂
Starting in the first exposed loop of RND 7 – join yarn with a SL ST; CH 3;
work 3 DC into loop. *Into the next loop work [4 DC/or 4 SC/ or 4 HDC].
Repeat from * working either DC, SC or HDC. Work the type of stitches randomly continuing all the way in a spiral to the last center loop!
Fasten off and weave in ends
CHERRY/STRAWBERRY:
With 3, 50 mm hook – make a magic circle or ch 4 and SL ST into first CH to form a ring.
This part is worked in continuous rounds, a stitch marker is recommended to help you keep track of your rounds.
RND 1: CH 1, work 6 SC into ring
RND 2: Work 2 SC into each SC of previous round, (12 SC)
RND 3-5: Work 1 SC into each ST all around (12 SC)
RND 6: *Work 2 SC into next SC and 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * all around ( 18 SC)
RND 7: For this round work into back-loops only Work 1 SC into each ST all around (18 SC)
RND 8: *SC2tog, work 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from, * all around (12 SC)
Stuff with fiberfill/toy-stuffing
RND 9: *SC2tog all around (6 SC)
Fasten off and sew opening closed and weave in ends
LEAVES: rejoin yarn into any loop on round 7; SL ST into next SC;
*CH 7; work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC into next CH;
work 1 HDC into next 2 CH;
work 1 DC into last 2 CH;
SKIP next 2 SC; SL ST into next SC.
Repeat from once more.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing
Sew Cherry/Strawberry into the center of the Cream.
All done! Add fun decorations like brown french knots for chocolate chips; or buttons and ribbons to your tacked Donut Sundae Crochet Toy!
