My Crochet Out In Space Playbook Part Two

CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side

INSTRUCTIONS:

The Sun:
SPECIAL STITCH
– Picot – CH3, work a SL ST into 3rd CH from hook
With 3,50 mm hook and yarn
CH 4

ROW 1: Work 5 DC into 4th CH from hook (6 DC), TURN
ROW 2: Work 2 DC into each DC of previous row (12 DC), TURN
ROW 3: Work 2 DC into first DC, work 1 DC into next;
*Work 2 DC into next DC, work 1 DC into next DC. Repeat from * until end (18 DC), TURN
ROW 4: Work 2 DC into first DC, work 1 DC into next 2 DC;
*Work 2 DC into next DC, work 1 DC into next 2 DC. Repeat from * until end (24 DC), TURN
ROW 5: Work 2 DC into first DC, work 1 DC into next 3 DC;
*Work 2 DC into next DC, work 1 DC into next 3 DC. Repeat from * until end (30 DC), TURN
ROW 6: SL ST into first ST; work 1 SC into next ST; work [1 HDC, picot, 1 HDC] into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST, SL ST into next ST.
*SL ST into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST; work [1 HDC, picot, 1 HDC] into next ST; work 1 SC into next ST, SL ST into next ST.
Repeat from * 4 more times. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

The Planets:
With 3,50 mm hook and yarn

Mercury; Mars & Uranus:
Make a magic circle
RND 1: work 6 SC into ring;
RND 2: work 2 SC into each SC all around (12 SC)
RND 3: *work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * all around (18 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Earth; Jupiter & Neptune:
Make a magic circle
RND 1: work 6 SC into ring;
RND 2: work 2 SC into each SC all around (12 SC)
RND 3: *work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * all around (18 SC)
RND 4: *work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around (24 SC)
RND 5: *work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 3 SC. Repeat from * all around (30 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

NOTE: for Earth – I used blue and green yarn and changed color every round

Venus & Saturn:
Make a magic circle
RND 1: work 6 SC into ring;
RND 2: work 2 SC into each SC all around (12 SC)
RND 3: *work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next SC. Repeat from * all around (18 SC)
RND 4: *work 2 SC into next SC, work 1 SC into next 2 SC. Repeat from * all around (24 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

The Ring For Saturn:
CH 16
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into each CH until end (15 SC);
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing

Pluto:
Make a magic circle
RND 1: work 6 SC into ring;
RND 2: work 2 SC into each SC all around (12 SC)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

The Dice Ball: (Make 2 in each color – 6 pieces)
With 3,50 mm hook and yarn

CH 7
Row 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd Ch from hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end (6 SC), turn
Row 2 – 6: CH1, work 1 SC into each ST until end (6 SC), turn
After last row, SL ST all around, fasten off and weave in ends.
With an assortment of buttons, sew buttons onto each piece.
Work from 1 to 6. Use photos as guide 🙂
Sew pieces together as shown in photo, then start working the sides together, attaching the last piece into position to form a block/ball.
Stuff ball with some fiberfill/toy stuffing before sewing close the last gap.

You can use small buttons; or embroider small dots onto the page!
