
Charming Snowman Crochet Bookmark
This charming snowman crochet bookmark is the perfect friend to give with a special book for Christmas.
I love to give books as gifts and my daughter always receives a few books on the holidays!

Charming Snowman Crochet Bookmark
Difficulty Level | Skills Required
Easy
Basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing.
Materials
- Hook 4, 00 mm
- Hook 3, 50 mm
- Yarn needle
- Very small amount of DK/or embroidery green yarn
- 2 x glue on/stick on eyes / or buttons for eyes
Yarn:
- Medium worsted (No 4) or DK (double knitting)
Elle Charity DK (Blue; White; Red; and a little bit of orange too)
Small amounts approx 20 – 50 yards
Notes:
Due to the nature of this pattern – the yarn and hook used is only a suggestion and any substitute may be used.
Size of finished product will vary depending on yarn and also size of hook used.
This cutie takes about an hour to make!
Size: approx 20/21 cm in length and 8 cm in width (Note – this size is to fit the books that I have bought my daughter)
How to adjust the size: Increase as follows to keep the balance between the different parts -this is the basic formula and also it all depends on the required length;
increase 1(2;3;4) row for the scarf;
increase 2 (4;6;8) rows for the face;
then increase 3 (6; 9; 12) rows for the hat.

Abbreviations: US Terminology
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
SC – single crochet (UK – DC)
HDC – half double crochet (UK – HTR)
DC – double crochet (UK – TR)
TR – treble crochet (UK – DTR)
BLP – back loop
RS – Right side
WS – Wrong side
SC2tog – single crochet 2 STS together (decrease)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Hook 4, 00 mm
With blue yarn CH 21
ROW 1: Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook; work 1 SC into each CH until end (20 SC); TURN
ROW 2: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end (20 SC); TURN
ROW 3: CH 1; work 1 SC into next 12 STS only (12 SC); TURN
ROW 4-5: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end (12 SC); TURN
Change to white yarn on last st
ROW 6: working into FRONT-LOOPS only; CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until (12 SC); TURN
ROW 7-15: CH 1; work 1 SC into each ST until end (12 SC); TURN
Change to red yarn on last st
ROW 16: working into FRONT-LOOPS only; CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until (12 SC); TURN
ROW 17-25: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until end (12 SC); TURN
ROW 26: CH 1; SC2tog; then work 1 SC into next 8 STS; SC2tog (10 SC); TURN
ROW 27: CH 1; SC2tog; then work 1 SC into next 6 STS; SC2tog (8 SC); TURN
ROW 28: CH 1; SC2tog; then work 1 SC into next 4 STS; SC2tog (6 SC); TURN
ROW 29: CH 1; SC2tog; then work 1 SC into next 2 STS; SC2tog (4 SC); TURN
ROW 30-34: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST until end (4 SC); TURN
ROW 35: CH 1; SC2tog twice (2 SC); TURN
ROW 36: CH 1; then work 1 SC into each ST (2 SC); TURN
ROW 37: CH 1; SC2tog – DO NOT TURN – this is the front side – then SL ST all around hat part.
Fasten off and then weave in all ends.
The Details:
Hook 3, 50 mm
Nose:
With orange yarn CH 11
Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook, then work 1 SC into next CH;
work 1 HDC into next 2 CH; then work 1 DC into next 4 CH;
work 1 TR into last two CH.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Embroider some long stitch stars with a french knot center on the hat and then add some little crosses onto the scarf!
